I have a 1994 pontiac grand am and it is leaking oil only when its running and it is coming just above the starter. I just got the starter replaced also. what is going wrong and how much will it cost me....

if this only happen after the starter was replaced then its probably the oil pressure switch leaking as it is above the starter.this will be a cheap fix(about 35 dollars)depending on labour rate and cost of part.

Whys is my oil pressure not changing, when everything is fine with it?!

You need to have the oil pressure checked with a manual oil pressure gauge you may have a bad sending unit. If the you oil pressure is the same with the manual gauge then you have a oil pressure problem.

I have replaced the fuel pump on my 1994 pontiac grand prix with the 3.1 litre v6. But it does not seem to be sending the fuel to the motor? In the instructions it says something about the oil pressure...

Are you sure that the fuel pump is properly installed? Have you tested the fuel pump circuits to see if they are working properly? Did you also replace your fuel filter? (It could be totally clogged up) Have you checked to see if there is any fuel pressure at the fuel rail or are you just assuming that the pump is not delivering fuel to the injectors? Have you checked your fuel injector circuits for power and for injector pulse from the EngineControl Module? Have you scanned your Engine Control module to see if you possibly have a Crank Sensor or Cam Sensor problem?

The oil pressure switch only keeps the fuel pump running once the engine starts. The fuel pump should run for 2-3 seconds when you turn the ignition switch to the "Run" position to prime the injectors. The oil pressure switch is the problem only if the engine will not continue to run on its own after it starts up.

My grand am gt 2003 has the "oli pressure light", light on. what should i do. what part do i need? i do not want to blow my engine up

OK, first I would check the level. Then, I might check the pressure at the oil switch using a gauge. If it has pressure there, the oil sending switch may be bad.

Or, the viscosity of the oil may be too thin, or the oil filter may be clogged which would mean that changing the oil and filter may solve the problem.

How does the engine run? If it runs without making any knocking or abnormal sounds, then it may be a false low oil pressure reading.

I would try to get this issue fixed as soon as possible, though, as these things won't get better by themselves.

Oil light stays on in 1993 pontiac grand am

Most likely cause for this is the Oil Pressure Switch, also commonly known as the Oil Sending Unit. It's a sensor that when failing, will indicate low oil pressure either due to a lack of oil or insufficient pressure through the oil line.

Grand Am oil light was on, checked oil and added a quart. Oil light is still on despite the oil being at the proper level

oil pressure test needed, could be something as simple as a oil pressure sending unit, or, possible engine damage
