Sounds like all the tumblers have fallen off due to the spring clip breaking could take it apart but replacement is cheaper.

My 2006 Kia Carens will not start. Can anyone help?

When you put key into ignition then turn to start it is the emobilser light light on if not then transponder that sit around you ignition is faulty. It should red your key code theen the light goes out and it will start. You can easy replace this your self by removing the shrouds from around the steafing wheel to exspose the unit it as two wires going to it that lead to a small detachable plug the unit is held in place by one small screw. Good luck

Will not start but turns over

Check if security light is on, if so, must reset. To reset, put key in ignition and turn to on position. Security light will start flashing on and off. Leave key in on position until security light stops flashing and turns off completely. This will take approximately 10 minutes. Then turn key off and take out of ignition. Put key back in and start car. Should now start

In my 2006 ford fusion 2.3L whenever I put my key in the ignition and turn it a weird solid ringing sound start and stops 5 seconds later hat could it be?

Not surprisingly, many others have experienced problems with the ignition switch on this car. Historically, it is not a sound, but that the key is stuck in the ignition. Your problem sounds different, but it may be related. Although I do not recommend the fix in the link above, it is possible the previous owner of your car did perform this fix and it has resulted in the problem you now have. My better guess is that the chime/buzzer has failed due to moisture or dirt and is no longer producing the sound that it should, but instead is altered to the ringing you describe. To disable follow these instructions:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1
Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.
3. For the seating position being disabled, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times, ending in the unbuckled state.
(Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.)
After Step 3, the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
4. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt.
This will disable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it
is currently enabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
This will enable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it
is currently disabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the
light off, then followed by the safety belt warning light flashing 4 times

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Need to bypass my factory anti theft device on my 2001 PT Cruiser 5 speed

I believe you are referring to the immobilizer in your key for your car. Unfortunately there is not a way around this factory anti theft system. However most delearships have the ability program new keys for you.

If you had two valid keys that were already programed to the car's immobilizer you can simply buy another key with a programmable immobilizer chip, usually referred to as a sentry key. These keys are available at some hardware stores for cheaper then you would find at a dealership. So if you have the old keys and a new blank key you can follow the following procedure in most cars to program the new key:

1. Bring the replacement sentry key to a hardware store or dealership. Have it cut to match the original valid sentry keys.
  • 2. Place the first valid key into the PT Cruiser's ignition and turn to the ON position for a minimum of three seconds and a maximum of 15 seconds. Turn ignition switch off until it is in the LOCK position and remove the key.
  • 3. Within 15 seconds, insert the second valid key and turn the ignition to the ON position. Wait ten seconds or until a chime sounds and the vehicle security light begins to flash. Turn the ignition off until it is in the LOCK position and remove the key.
  • 4. Within 60 seconds, insert the new blank sentry key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position. Wait 10 seconds or until you hear a single chime and the vehicle security light stops flashing. Look for the indicator light on the dashboard. If it turns on for three seconds and then turns off, the key has been successfully programmed.

I replaced my water pump i disconected my neg. terminal finished job complete went to start car turns over but wont fire some one told me to turn ignition to run for 10 min or wait for light to stop...

Hi, it does not sound like a passlock issue. I would recheck the area around the pump for anything you might have disconnected. If all good, check for spark.

Please see my tip at . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Theft system light flashes and the vehicle will not start

the ignition switch needs to be repaired. the tumblers inside wear out and it wont recognize the key. put the key in and turn on until all the lights light up on instrument panel, just before turning it on, but don't and leave it like that for 10 minutes or until the light stops blinking and turns off. once that happens, turn off completely and start it up, it should fire right up.
