Turn signal switches , and all steering column work requires many special tools, and is best left to a column specialist, my opinion, sorry!

Knocking noise

Wow this one's tough without being there...it could be either one that you mentioned, does it make the sound when driving or setting still. If it sounds like it's up high like in the dash, maybe a bearing that supports the steering column. Best thing would be to get it up on a lift and turn the steering wheel and look for the sound under the car to see where it's coming from..could be the rack teeth but most likely a bearing...good luck hunting

When i turn my steering to full extend either to right hand side or left, like turning my car in u turn...some noise is coming ..

the noise, like grinding or squeeling, is the power steering pump clutch,it is normal and nothing to worry about,(actually, its the fluid, bypass valve, that makes the noise)

2006 UPLANDER HAS STEERING PROBLEM... CLICKING NOISE when I drive slowly.. noise like (tik tik) This is from long time.. I went to my mechanic.. He tried to fix it twice but still same problem.....

The most common problem with the Uplander steering that could cause that kind of ticking is the intermediate shaft in the steering column. GM used to sell a lubrication kit that would fix the problem but they've discontinued it. The only solution now is to replace the intermediate shaft in the column. It's not too expensive and you should be able to get the dealer to do it for about $250.

Makes noises and difficult to turn

I see this all the time, rattles, steering knocking, loss of power assist, etc.

What it all boils down to is a really bad designed steering system in the cobalt, HHR, Malibu, and any othere GM car that uses the electric steering system. I blame engineering for this problem.

The usual fixes are to replace the steering rack, steering intermediate shaft, and/or steering column. All of which is very costly for the consumer. And lets not forget the alignment.

The other noise makers are the sway bar links and the lower control arm bushings that break out.

2006 chevy uplander noise coming from front left

You need to jack the front left wheel off of the ground and try to get movement from in and out wiggle it put one hand on top of tire one on bottom of tire and **** it in and out to see if that bearing is loose .. if so it might need replaced or maybe take it appart and grease it.. I believe those are only replaceable .. not greasable.. thanks jerry P.S I would do this soon sounds like it could leave you stranded with more expensive problems ..
