Causes of gas in oil
On my 94 Chevy blazer, gas in the oil was caused by a ruptured diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator that is attached to the fuel injector. Flooding the engine. An over abundance of gas in your cylinders will wash down your cylinder walls and accumulate in the oil pan.

I have a 1995 Nissan Altima 2.4 dual overhead cam will not start gas in my oil pan what do I do


the most common problem is the piston rings are letting gas blow by and accumulating in the oil pan --other would be crack in cylinder wall ---do a compression test on engine

My 2001 grand cherokee has the engine light on, the coolant is alwasys running low, and I have a evap leak


evap leak can just be a bad, gas cap or not tight. and is not an issue here. its just a tank vent.
the loose is serious
the collant called AF, (antifreeze ) can only go a few places.
1: to the ground.
2: to the passengers does, heater core leak.
3: to the oil pan, did you check oil for AF contam?
4: to the A/T pan, did you check the A/T dip stick for contam?
5: to the exhaust tail pipe tip, called STEAM.

find the the path and problem is obvious.

if all 4 dont pan out (pun intended) then use the 2 rad tests.
got oil in the AF, filler neck, on cold start, before start, off the RAD cap and look , got oil there?
does the rad leak down test fail> (a tool)
does the green/blue tester fail, (exh. gas in RAD found)>>>>>????
does a compression test fail,?
does a cylinder leakdown test fail..

all are simple tests.

Your exhaust converter is 12 to 14 years old,that's when they
just look good & do nothing inside

Instructions
  1. Remove Your Timing Chain
    • 1 Check your owner's manual for the recommended mileage for replacing your timing chain. Replacement for a Nissan Altima is 60,000 miles.
    • 2 Locate the timing chain. Replace it if the automatic chain adjuster (also known as the tensioner) is damaged or worn.
    • 3 Drain the cooling system and disengage the negative battery cable. Undo the spark plug wires and set the No. 1 piston at "Top Dead Center" (TDC) of the compression stroke.
    • 4 Disconnect the engine undercover, vacuum and fuel hoses, harness and connectors, drive belts, power steering reservoir, alternator and bracket, upper radiator hose, air duct, front exhaust tube, intake manifold collector supports, collector and exhaust manifold and the distributor.
    • 5 Prop up the oil pan and take out the front engine mounting, the valve cover, camshaft sprockets, cam bearing caps, camshafts, cylinder head bolts (reverse the installation order), cam sprocket cover, upper chain tensioner, chain guides and chain, idler sprocket bolt, cylinder head, intake manifold and cylinder head gasket and the steel oil pan.
    • 6 Place a steel cutter between the steel and aluminum oil pans. Slip the cutter around the oil pan's edge. Disengage the steel oil pan, baffle plate, oil strainer and the front tube.
    • 7 Secure the car on jack stands and place a seal cutter in between the oil pan and cylinder block. Slip the cutter around the oil pan's edge.
    Install Your Timing Chain
    • 8 Reconnect the crankshaft sprocket, oil pump drive spacer, idler sprocket and lower timing chain. Position the lower timing chain on the sprockets and line up the mating marks.
    • 9 Rub on an unbroken bead of liquid gasket and put in a new front cover and oil seal. Secure the bolt at 105 to 112 foot pounds (142 to 152 Nm).
    • 10 Eliminate any old material from the pan and cylinder block mounting surfaces. Rub on a 3.5 to 4.5mm bead of liquid gasket over the oil pan and cylinder block.
    • 11 Attach the upper timing chain to the idler sprockets and secure the cylinder head bolts.
    • 12 Refill the cooling system and add clean oil in the engine.
    • 13 Hook up the negative battery cable and any other disconnected parts or items. Start the engine and look for leaks.
Tips & Warnings
  • Procedures for replacing timing chains in Nissan Altimas vary slightly depending on engine size.
  • Make sure the new timing chain matches the chain you are removing.

HI there! This would normally happen if the car was running very rich or if there were a problem with the compression rings on the piston. gas in the oil could be caused by a ruptured diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator that is attached to the fuel injector. An over abundance of gas in your cylinders will wash down your cylinder walls and accumulate in the oil pan.

On a 2002 isuzu trooper 3.5 V6 with auto and 4wheel drive do i need to remove engine to pull oil pan? i have a loud banging in motor and need to check crankshaft & bearings


Yes, you need to pull the engine to remove the oil pan. This requires that you remove the propeller shafts and the third cross member to slide the transmission toward the rear of the vehicle. I suggest you purchase a service manual before you start this process. More than likely the rod bearing for cylinder 1 has failed. This seems to be a common problem with later model 3.5L Trooper engines because the oil pump and oil gallery do not deliver oil as efficiently to the number 1 rod bearing.

Changing a sump on Jetta IV


You need VW silicone sealant D 176 404 A2.
  • Apply 2 to 3mm (1/8") bead of new sealant to oil pan sealing surface. Be sure to run bead on the inside of the bolt holes.
  • Immediately install oil pan to cylinder block and loosely install M7 bolts diagonally.
  • Install and lightly tighten M10 bolts securing oil pan to transmission.
  • Diagonally tighten M7 oil pan bolt further, but not final torque.
  • Diagonally torque M7 bolts securing oil pan to cylinder block.
  • Oil pan to transmission (M10)... 45 Nm(33 ft-lb)
  • Oil pan to cylinder block (M7)...15 Nm(11 ft-lb)
  • Wait 30 minutes as prescribed and refill with proper viscosity and quantity of engine oil.

2003 oil pan removal


4.0L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Lift the vehicle.
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
    • Exhaust hanger at the catalytic converter and lower the pipe.
    • Starter motor.
    • Flywheel/torque converter housing access cover.
    • Oil level sensor (if equipped).
  5. Place a pole jack under vibration dampener with a piece of wood between dampener and jack.
  6. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Engine mount through bolts and raise engine for clearance to remove pan.
    • Transmission cooler lines (if equipped).
    • Oxygen sensor harness from oil pan mounting studs.
    • Oil pan bolts and studs.
    • Oil pan and gasket.
To Install:
  1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Apply Mopar® Silicone Adhesive Sealant or equivalent onto the cylinder block in four location as shown.

  1. Attach the pan gasket to the oil pan with Hi-tack or equivalent (2003-2005 vheicles).
  2. Use 1 ½ x ¼ inch bolts to fabricate alignment dowels. Cut off the head of the bolts and cut a slot into the top of the dowels (2006 vehicles).

  1. Install two dowels into the timing case cover (2006 vehicles).
  2. Install two dowels into the cylinder block (2006 vehicles).
  3. Place the gasket over the dowels and onto the cylinder block and timing case cover (2006 vehicles).
  4. Position the oil pan.
  5. Install the 1/4 inch oil pan bolts. Tighten to 84 in-lb (9.5 Nm).
  6. Install the 5/16 inch oil pan bolts. Tighten to 132 in-lb (15 Nm).
  7. Remove the dowels.
  8. Install the remaining 1/4 inch oil pan bolts. Tighten to 84 in-lb (9.5 Nm) (2006 vehicles).
  9. Lower the engine onto the engine mounts.
  10. Install the through bolts and tighten the nuts.
  11. Remove jack stand and remove the piece of wood.
  12. Install the flywheel and torque converter access cover.
  13. Install starter motor.
  14. Connect the exhaust pipe to the hanger and to exhaust manifold.
  15. Install the transmission oil cooling lines (if equipped).
  16. Install the oxygen sensor wiring supports to the oil pan mounting studs.
  17. Install the drain plug into the oil pan. Tighten to 25 ft-lb (34 Nm).
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Connect negative battery cable.
  20. Fill the oil pan with oil. WARNING
    Use extreme caution when the engine is operating. Do not stand in a direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts or fan. Do not wear loose clothing.
  21. Start the engine and inspect for leaks.

Section 03-01: Engine, 4.6L (4V) 1997 Continental Workshop Manual IN-VEHICLE SERVICE Oil Pan/Oil Pump Screen Cover and Tube Removal
  1. Turn rear suspension leveler compressor switch (5K761) off (located in luggage compartment).
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Remove oil level dipstick (6750).
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  1. Remove dual converter Y pipe (5F250). Refer to Section 09-00 .
  1. Drain engine oil from crankcase.
  1. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from the low oil level sensor connector.
  1. Remove the power steering pressure hose retainer brackets from the engine front cover studs (two places). Position the power steering pressure hose (3A719) out of the way.
  1. Remove 16 bolts retaining oil pan (6675) to cylinder blocks (6010) and remove oil pan and oil pan gasket (6710).
  1. Remove two bolts retaining oil pump screen cover and tube (6622) to oil pump (6600).
  1. Remove bolt retaining oil pump screen and cover and tube support brace to main bearing stud spacer.
  1. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube. Discard O-ring.

        Installation
        1. Inspect oil pump screen cover and tube and replace if necessary.
        1. Position oil pump screen cover and tube on oil pump with a new O-ring and hand-start two bolts.
        1. Install bolt retaining oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing stud spacer finger-tight.
        1. Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube-to-oil pump bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in). Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing stud spacer bolt to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb-ft).
        1. Clean oil pan and inspect for damage.
        1. Clean sealing surfaces of engine front cover (6019) and cylinder blocks with a clean cloth. If scraping is required, only use plastic-tipped scrapers to prevent damaging the aluminum sealing surfaces.
        1. Position new oil pan gasket on oil pan.
        1. Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 where engine front cover meets cylinder blocks and crankshaft rear oil seal retainer meets cylinder blocks. Position oil pan on cylinder blocks and install 16 bolts. Tighten bolts in sequence to 20 Nm (14 lb-ft), then rotate an additional 60 degrees clockwise.
