if its not shifting make sure fluids are full (I'm sure you did) im just saying is your speed sensor on trany pluged in , and your throttle return cable from trany to fuel return hooked up

How to check transmission temp sender on 1992 w350 dodge

How to check the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor. There is a reason for it. The sensor can skew ,a skewed sensor will mean either the computer thinks that the fluid is either too cold and thick for shifting or the computer will want to go into hot mode. Hot mode means no OD. Overdrive. Overdrive means no mechanical coupling.

Use an infra temp gun. There are two windows to a typical gun. the top window is the laser. It gives you something to point with. The bottom larger window is the infra red. This is what actually takes the temperature. Temp guns are getting cheap.

Place the gun on a hot transmission cooler line and compare the reading to the gauge.

I have a 1985 Nissan 300zx with a rebuilt trany but it will not shift into overdrive

Assuming it is an automatic check the temperature sender to the transmission computer. These will not shift to overdrive if not to at correct operating temperature. I have also had this problem with external coolers overcooling the transmission.

I have a 95 mercury sable 3.8 liter and when I drive for too long in warm weather, it leaks tranny fluid

This is an interesting one. Where is the transmission fluid leaking from? If it is coming out of the transmission where it meets the engine, then you are looking at replacing the front transmission seal, and to do this you will need to pull the transmission. If it is not leaking at this spot, then you are looking at a line leak, and will need to replace the bad line. There are going to be two lines for the transmission, make sure that yoyu inspect each one of them thoroughly/ They are the usual culprit when a transmission starts to leak.

Overdrive does not work if i put another trans in will it fix it

If the trany fliud is full then i would say yes replace the trany,be sure to flush out all the cooler lines and the cooler itself. if your useing a used trany make sure to install a new front and rear seals and also replace the filter and pan gasket, good look.

Jeep 2002 Transmission Over-Temperature

may have a bad temp sensor for trany oil, or the cooler or lines may be restricked, the oil temp has to be checked when the light comes on, this will tell if its really hot or the sensor is bad, start there.

It just wont shift into overdrive. i think it is a bad cylinoid on the trany. but im not an expert.

Before I would suspect bad solenoids, I would first suspect a sticking-open thermostat. The OverDrive is prohibited from operating until the engine coolant reaches 177 degrees F. If your temp gauge is reading below 1/2, I would consider replacing the thermostat.

On 3rd transmission3rd and overdrive keep blowing out

It doesn't make any sence. You are on your third trani and all of them have failed with the same exact symptoms. Is the torque converter the same? And when the first trani was removed did you have metal in it? If so, you may have contaminates inside the trani cooler and it is either clogged and there is little or no flow or is sending the **** that is inside it into your replacement trani. The trani is a 4L60e, right?

i had the same problem after spending $500.00 for toyota to look at it they didnt fix it and suggested i it was the auto trans and i should get it overhauled costing thousands. i didnt believe them and started to do some of my own research into the problem. the coolant temp sensor at the rear of the intake manifold tells the ecu when the engine is at correct operating temp then allows the auto trans shift into overdrive. to rule out any problems with the auto trans i disconnected the plug to the temp sensor and went for a drive when the engine was cold and it shifted straight away into overdrive no problems. you can't leave this disconnected because the engine is hard to start when cold as the temp sensor also tells the ecu that it is cold and allows the cold start injector to inject more fuel into the engine on cold start up.to overcome this i cut the wire to the sensor plug and installed a switch which i installed into the centre console.now i start the car flick the swith use overdrive then swith back to normal after car has warmed up . engine fault light appers on dash when switched on but doesnt matter. i have had this modification for 2 years now no problems.
