These are often pressed on. It takes a special puller to get one off.

If you buy a new power steering pump, it usually comes with a nut, bolt and washer to install the pulley. The removal tool can be purchased and possibly rented at any parte store

How to change power stering pump on 1995 Chevrolet1500 2wd with 350ci with air conditioner

  1. Lift the hood. Remove the power-steering cap. Use the turkey baster to siphon as much fluid as possible from the power-steering pump reservoir. This is done to lessen the fluid loss when the hoses are removed.

  2. 2

Remove the two pressure hoses from the rear of the power-steering pump, using a wrench and common screwdriver. The high-pressure hose is threaded into the back of the pump while the lower-pressure hose is held on with a clamp.

  3. 3

Loosen the belt tensioner by using a wrench to move the tensioner away from the belt and removing the belt.

  4. 4

Place the power-steering pulley extractor tool on the nose of the pulley. The tool has two half shells that clamp around the lip on the nose of the pulley and around the lip of the tool. Thread the tool in until the shells fit on both the pulley and the tool lip. Install the circular metal band to keep the shells in place. Hold the threaded head of the tool with a wrench. With another appropriately sized wrench, turn the large nut above the shells counterclockwise to pull the pulley off.

  5. 5

Remove the bolts securing the pump to the support bracket. Remove the pump.

  6. 6

Install the new pump. Insert the securing bolts and tighten. Install the pulley by holding the pulley on the shaft while threading the extractor tool into the center hole of the shaft, with the shells removed. Hold the head of the threaded shaft with one wrench and turn the large nut clockwise with another wrench to push the pulley on the power-steering pump shaft.

  7. 7

Install the serpentine belt by pushing the tensioner away from the belt while wrapping the belt around the pulleys. Allow the tensioner to press on the belt, causing tension.

  8. 8

Install the two power-steering hoses. Fill the power-steering pump reservoir with power-steering fluid. Start the truck and turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock, left and right several times to bleed all the air from the system. Check the fluid one more time.

92 buick century blower motor replace? I have a 92 century that im trying to replace the blower motor on. the problem im having is that i cannot get it to slide out because it hits the power steering pump....

Found this info. I don't know liter size of engine? For the 2.2L rotate the engine forward slightly. Some, I have removed the squirrel cage from the blower, then removed. I don't know if that would be applicable on your vehicle? As far as the power steering pump, I'd have to look at mounting bracket. All I can do is throw out ideas, I can't see anything from here.

How to remove pully from powersteering pump?

You need a power steering pulley puller. This is about the least expensive one that you will find:

Be careful not the bend the pulley as they are $100-200 for a replacement! Soak the center shaft with a quality penetrating oil like Kroil or PB Blaster for a day or two before.

How do I loosen the belt for the power steering and alternator? What bolts need to be loosened etc.?

There is a belt tensioner somewhere in the loop that the serpentine belt travels. Look for a pulley that is not running anything (like the power steering, alternator, etc). Either in the center of that pulley or on the arm that the pulley is attached to will be a square hole that is the same size as the square peg in a 1/2" Ratchet. Put the ratchet in the hole and have in the loosen position and then pull. That will loosen the tensioner releasing the tension on the belt enough to get it off. Take note of the path of the belt so you know how to put it back on when you are putting it back together.

Good Luck
