Start the engine and let it warm up completely. Then put the vehicle in neutral and check the transmission fluid. It may just need fluid but also could need to be changed. It should be red. If it's brown or black then it needs to be changed. Hope this helps.

First gear sticks and wont shift unless i let of the gas. thn whn in second it wont shift to third. At all! did tranny flush, changed filter and changed the 1-2 shift solenoid. problem still there.

I'm not a trans specialist but did plenty of trans work, ASE cert.#1- If the trans was way overdue for a service, all the ground metal that comes out with that flush & filter svc may have been holding things together in the trans now may be damaged trans. Use the proper type fluid? Air in system. Faulty trans pump? Any CE lights? RE; Long shot but possible emissions or clogging exhaust. Good luck. Sounds like faulty trans

2005 carolla wont shift to third gear

it could be any number of things, 3rd gear may be out in the trans, it could be the computer telling it not to shift, it could be your cable is out of adjustment. Your best bet is to go to a qualified shop or the dealer and have it looked at before the trans is burned up causing a couple of thousand $$$ is repairs.

Tranny wont shift gears what could cause that

There are a variety of things that can cause a transmission not to shift. Let's start with the cheapest and work our way up. Vacuum leaks can sometimes cause a delayed shift or a no shift. Check all vacuum lines that go to the trans. Not enough trans fluid or very dirty trans filter can cause a no shift. Shift solenoids which are located inside the trans and last, the trans has finally burned through the clutches and will have to be completely rebuilt. Should be one of these and if you're lucky, it'll be one of the first two.

Transmission wont shift low 2 second , alredy change trans

I came across this problem before in my case it turned out to be the TPS sensor. I also had a problem like this and it was the Park Natural switch. The ECM could only see park so it would not let the trans shift. These things are easy to check with a scan tool. Good Luck :-)

1997 ford taurus 3.0 ltr trans wont shift into overdrive. first thrugh third gears shift fine but it doesnt try to shift into overdrive at all. the trans shows no signs of slipping and the fluid looks...

Solenoid pack in trans. Position module,is just that. Wrong guess. What tran model do you have? You also have other sensors to consider but have to know the trans your working on and the computer and shift stratagy involved to solve this, even if your throwing parts at it.

Sounds like you got a bad trans. Was it used? Does it have a warranty? Can you shift it with the linkage off? Is everything adjusted correctly?
