SOURCE: stalls and wont idle when cold

Re the trooper. You have a couple of possibles. The most likely is the glowplugs or glowplug relay. Don't be fooled into thinking glow plugs only heat to start - the also do whats called postheat. That is to raise the cylinder temp until the block is warm. IF they are not functioning (clip a light onto one whilst switching the glowplug on to test the relay) this is common.
Most likely is a stuck EGR valve - stuck open so running a very lean mix when cold. Its two bolts on the inlet manifold, pulls out and looks covered in soot - it should push in and spring out. Can be cleaned in petrol or alcohol or with compressed air.
More remote is possible you have a faulty injector...only really testable by an engine centre...

The rpm fluctuates at idle

It sounds like a failed 'idle air control.' Your computer may be monitoring engine conditions so having it scanned at one of the chain auto parts stores may identify the problem. The scanning is (in my experience) free of charge but call first to confirm this.

Low idle problem

simply just tighten up the accelerator cable so that on idle it hits 750rpm or slightly more 800rpm if your engine condition isn't that good.

I had bad oxygen sensors do this.
Check it out with a scanner before replacing it.

4x4 ute starts, idles, revs fine, but while driving, acceleration above 2500revs the cars jumps and hops and i have to take foot off accelerator

Check if your vehicle uses points in the ignition, if it does they sometimes break the earthing wire inside distributor advancer plate (Where the points screw onto)
This gives the symptom you describe.
Sorry but it difficult to be more accurate in diagnosing the cause of your problem without a very detailed description of whats happening.
All the best MMP
