Question about 1998 Cadillac DeVille
Hello, You probably have failed (broken) wire(s) coming from the ignition lock cylinder to the security system. To repair you need to replace the ignition lock cylinder, a new key with the same resistor. no programming required. Hope this helps

Same that happened to me. There is a detailed write-up here: http://vatspasskey.com . The guy is great, this was the only way I was able to save my Park Avenue. I see it applies to your model too.
