It's really not a problem of failure or broken. The design of many external temperature sensors are cheesy and direct sunlight makes them think it's hotter than it is, cooler the more air that reaches it and lack of sunlight.

Why 1998 olds intrigue is running hot.

1) Is it really running hot, or is the temperature sending unit or gauge incorrect? You could use an alternate temperature sensor to test - infrared temperature gauge.
2) Just because the radiator was cleaned out doesn't mean it isnt blocked. Check to see that water will flow through the radiator.

You need to read the instructions in the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue Owner's Manual. Yes, you must now wait an hour. The first time that "INOP" will display is if you have tried it eight times and failed. After you wait an hour, you will only get three chances to get it right before INOP will be displayed again.

Wondering where the exterior sencor is located for the outside temperature on a 1998 oldsmobile intrigue?

Location is behind the plastic air dam that forces air from underneath the car to go up and into the radiator (directly in front of a/c condensor). It's somewhat of a tight space, however you can pull it with force off the plastic air dam it's connected to (about midway down) and then unclip the sensor from the harness. Just don't pull too hard once you free it from the plastic air dam. These sensors rarely need replacing. If your Dual Digital Climate Control System is giving you an incorrect reading on the display for the outside air temperature, this indicates a couple of possibilities. 1.)The sensor tip is dirty and should be cleaned, or 2.)The green or white wire that goes to this sensor is worn or has broke somewhere before the sensor. This happened to mine (green wire broke) and would always give an incorrect outside air temp. I fixed the green wire and now the system functions correctly again.

The key security uses a series of specific resistors values one appears in the run position and the other in the start position of the key. These resistor values are not of standard values. Some times when a tech installs a remote start they measure the resistor values from the original ignition key and try to pair a set of resistors to match. If they are close the system will work most of the time. However, hot and cold temps may make them drift so the MCU will not accept them. Also these external resistors run through relays of the remote car starter, if the contacts get dirty this will also change the resistor values. Best place to look for answers is with a remote car starter book about defeating the key security for remote start.
