How do you check the transmisison fluid

Instructions

Locate the dipstick for your transmission. It is usually near the back of the engine, and the stick handle is either a T-handle or a ring handle.

Top Degree & Financial Freedom! Free Tuition & Income Opportunities

Grasp the dipstick handle and pull straight up until the end of the stick clears the housing tube. Wipe the stick off with a rag, and push it all the back down into the tube.

Pull the stick all the way out again and hold it so you can see the end of the stick and the film of fluid that clings to it.

Look for the level indicators stamped or drilled into the dipstick. You should see two sets of indicators. One set is for checking the fluid when the engine is cold, and the other set is for checking the fluid when the engine is hot. Each set of indicators is marked with a "full" line and an "add" line.

Determine whether your transmission fluid is at the proper level by finding the spot on the dipstick where the film of fluid ends. If the film ends near the "full" mark or somewhere near the halfway point between "full" and "add," your transmission has an adequate fluid level.

Return the dipstick to the holding tube and push it all the way back down into the tube. Fully seat the dipstick in the holding tube

Where is the intake for the tranmission fluid for a 2003 kia spectra

From the driver's side front wheel lean into the engine compartment and locate the place near the firewall where you would add brake fluid. It's a little plastic bottle near the firewall. Now look down below that and a little toward the motor and you should see a black handled dipstick tube. It may have a yellow dot on the top if not too dirty. It doesn't rise very high so you have to lean over and put your hand down in that area to grab it. That is the transmission dipstick. ONLY check fluid when the motor is running and the car is warm by removing the stick, wiping it clean, replacing it WITH MOTOR RUNNING and pulling it out again to check the location on the stick where the fluid stops. To add fluid, TURN IT OFF and you will need a special transmission funnel with very narrow tip. The fluid goes in where the dipstick came out. The 03 spectra has a reputation for fluid leaks from the top plugs of the transmission and this is not repairable in a mechanical way according to the dealerships.... so you will want to use transmission stop leak from the parts store for the life of the transmission. Get the really runny "acetone based" kind. It will work for some time and when it starts leaking alot down the road, treat it again with the same product. Ask the parts store to help you select it. Follow the instructions carefully.

I can't find the well for the Automatic Transmission Fluid. I see the cap for engine oil, brake fluid and steering fluid but no transmission fluid. Please help!!!

You must locate the transmission dip stick. Look towards the rear near the firewall. It looks like the oil dipstick but larger. You fill up or add transmission fluid through the transmission dipstick hole.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

My 2003 kia transmission will not shift into next gear at 45mph do u know what it is?

The transmission fluid is the first place to check. The car must be running in park and be slightly warmed up to get an accurate reading. The transmission dipstick is near the big black box near the drivers steering wheel area under the hood. It has a black plastic "stopper" at the top and you pull it straight up while the car is running, wipe the dipstick end off with a paper towel to dry it and then place it back in the tube and pull it out and inspect it. The reddish fluid should be near the "top" little dot or hole in the dipstick a few inches from the bottom of the dipstick where it says 65 degrees. If there's nothing on the stick, you need to add fluid, one pint at time (use for Dexron III automatic transmission fluid) and repeat until the fluid is to the 65 degrees mark. Then the transmission should shift properly. If the fluid is already at the 65 degrees mark before you add anything, you should pay the dealership to diagnose the issue. If the fluid was LOW, you may want to add transmission leak sealer, cross your fingers and save some money for your next transmission (dealership will not fix leaks from transmission seals including plugs in the transmission but they will be happy to sell you a new transmission)

How do i add transmission fluid to my 1996 camry?

If you have a dipstick under your hood for the tranny fluid, then fill it in there slowly... if not, you'll need to fill it through the filler plug that will be on the side of the transmission just above the halfway point

Where do I check the transmission fluid on a 1997 Hyundai excel

Remove Transmission Fluid Level Check
Locate and remove the transmission fluid level checker, in most cars and trucks this is where the fluid is checked and added.
1687565.jpg
Insert fluid funnel and add transmission fluid until the proper amount of fluid level is reached. Let engine warm and recheck fluid level, add fluid as needed. Do not over fill the transmission, it could foam the fluid and cause low fluid pressure causing premature transmission failure. recheck transmission for leaks and recheck fluid level in a couple of days.

DIAGNOSIS AND TEST FLUID LEVEL AND CONDITION
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Before removing the dipstick, wipe all dirt from the area around the dipstick. 3. With the selector lever in "P" (Park) and the parking brake applied, start the engine. 4. The engine should be running at idle speed and the fluid should be at normal operating temperature [80-90°C (176-194°F)]. 5. Move the selector lever to every position to fill the torque converter and hydraulic circuit with fluid, then place the lever in the "N" (Neutral) position. This operation checks that fluid level check is accurate. 6. Check if the fluid level is in the "HOT" range shown on the dipstick. If the fluid is low, add automatic transaxle fluid until the level reaches the "HOT" range.

I cannot find where to put the transmission fluid in my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. There is not an area on top to put more fluid, let alone check the fluid.

I have a 1995 rodeo with an automatic. the fluid level is measured on the dipstick, which is next to the oil dip stick on the v-6 anyway. you add fluid by removing a plug unedr the vehicle mounted up near the center of the transmission.
