The metal hose is press fitted and not intended to be removed.

Where is the thermostat located on a 2000 nissan xterra? Is there a diagram anywhere?

Hi, the thermostat is located in the housing just above the water pump. Follow the top hose on the radiator. There is a metal tubing in the middle of that top hose that leads to the thermostat housing. The housing has 3 screws that attaches it to the engine.

Behind the water pump it leaks antifreze its not the water pump but the hose from the radiator hook up to this metal tube and goes to the water pump that join is leaking does it have a gasket in between or...

you talking about water pump bypass heater pipe the metal elbow piece to the water pump hosing.the metal elbow piece is held in place by small bolt or bolts you should have either gasket or o ring betwween where metal elbow mounts to water pump housing.replace the hoses also.some times the hose will be leaking not gasket or o ring at the metal elbow.make sure screw or screws not loose or missing to the metal elbow pipe.

The upper radiator hose burst, i replace that now it wont cycle coolant threw the block and heater wont work could it be the thermostat

Could be or it could be the water pump which i think is more than likely which is why the hose burst ,the water pump has a plastic impeller and this is driven by a metal shaft and they do come loose on the metal drive shaft ,result the problems you describe

1999 ford taurus overheats boils out of thermostat...saw water pumping 2 water pump....saw water pumping out of thermostat....not sure though seems like not enough water pumping through...

It sounds like you have an air pocket in your system. By the RH strut tower take the heater hose loose from the metal line and fill the cooling system when coolant starts coming out reconnect the hose. If that doesn't work jack the car up where the over flow tank is the highest point and fill the cooling system.

Is there a special tool t o remove the water pump on a 1998 s-10 the bolys wont budge and they seem to have a shallow head on them

IF you are working on a 4 cylinder engine (2.2L), and if you have taken off all the preliminary stuff (fan, hoses, etc.) you probably know that the pulley under the fan is NOT the water pump pulley. The water pump pulley is just down and to the right (as you face the car) from the pulley that the fan rides on. There shouldn't be anything special about the bolts that hold the water pump in. A good socket wrench ought to handle the job.
If you are working on a 4.3L, then the water pump IS under the fan pulley. Shouldn't be anything special about those bolts either.

The rust that you saw may come from the engine, the metal parts of the radiator or the water pump itself. Removing the hoses for cleaning is fine as long as it is returned to their proper places. For the sources of the rust check first the radiator cap for corrosion, you may need to have it replaced as well. Check out the metal coils of the radiator if there is rust build up. To get to the water pump you will have to remove some serpentine belt and the timing belt to get to it. The work that will be used to get to it and replacing it is almost the same as in replacing a timing belt. Make sure to check the timing belt while at it to save time and labor. Whenever I replace my timing belt I also have the water pump checked and replaced if needed.

Cooling system requires burp.

A large air pocket can sometimes be tricky to get rid of. The easiest way is to jack the front end up in the air with the wheels off the ground and support with jack stands, remove the radiator cap(make sure engine is cool) and allow to sit over night in this condition. The elevated front end will allow the air pocket to move to the most highest point and then escaping out the top of the radiator, after doing this procedure make sure to inspect coolant level in radiator and overflow reservoir and top off as needed.

How to get metal heater hose pipe out of water pump without taking water pump off 1995 jeep grand cherokee v8

there is a bracket attached to the pipe just above the water pump bolts (this bolt looks similar to the water pump bolts). there is also a bracket attached to a long, thin bolt just under the valve covers on the drivers side. you'll need a long socket to get to this one. once those two brackets are freed up, you should be able to work the heater hose out of the hole in the water pump. of course, that metal pipe attaches to a rubber hose about halfway back from the water pump to the firewall, so you'll want to undo the hose clamp that holds it in place and slide the metal pipe out of the rubber hose.

i'm not sure what you have in mind, but this should let you accomplish it. note that there is an o-ring that fits on the water pump end of that metal pipe. it's included when you buy the water pump.
