My alldata doesn't have the location of that filter but it does tell me that it is in line. It should be on the same side of the truck as you fill up on. Look under the truck on the frame and locate the fuel lines. Follow them up the side. You should see the filter about half way up the lines mounted to the frame. Sorry I couldn't get more info for you but this should lead you right to it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

SOURCE: trying to change fuel filter on a 2008 escape.

They make cheap fuel line removal tools and can pick them up at any auto parts store. They can explain how to use them. Its really easy. Find the tool that's closest to your fuel line size, they also sell a universal pack for around $5. Open the tool mouth so it goes over your fuel line with male part of the tool facing the female slide it in. Then your line can be pulled out. Careful the line are under pressure with gas. It will only leak for a few seconds. Then replace your fuel filter and the lines just snap back on, no tools necessary. Check for leaks and your done. Good Luck!

SOURCE: transmission filter

If it is an automatic most have the filter in the transmission, Since there is not a drain plug on most automatic transmissions, you have to loosen the transmission pan bolts and let it drain. Then you have to take the pan off and there you will see a flat filter, usually held on by three screws. This job should left to a qualified repair shop unless you are a good shadetree mechanic.

I thought my 2008 Escape 2.3L 4cyl could run on E85, but when I got through the 1st 1/4 tank, my ck eng lite came on. Is this a result of the fuel or something else?

I don't think any of fords four cylinders are e85 compliant. The escape 3.0 liter didn't become e85 compliant until 2010 if you vehicle was e85 compliant it would have a flex fuel emblem on the side of it and it would have a sticker on the fuel door. Your check engine light is most likely because of the e85. If it's running ok. Burn of that tank and then return to regular gas. The check engine light should go out after a couple of fill ups.
