Question about Nissan 200SX

2 Answers

I have a red 200SX. I neglected it for months and it stood out in the rain during the winter and dried up over the summer. What formed on the roof of the car is this whitish residue. It is very visible from about 15 feet away for it covers maybe 30 percent of the roof in random areas. It may look as though the paint is stripped but I do not think it is. I tried scratching a very pinpoint area off with my fingernail and it came off with red paint showing underneath. It would take me a year to remove it all using this method since it is heavily bonded to the paint. Is there a good method to get this whitish marks of the paint? There are many types of products out there like, Ultraccut Compound, Clay bars, etc, but I don't know which is the correct one to use. Or is a new paint job my only option?

Hi. If you are asking on how to remove the white residue. All you need to have is a rubbing compound and a buffing pad. Put the rubbing compound on the surface and add a little water while using the buffing pad. go on circular motion on the surface until the white residue dissappears. You may use 3M wax for the finishing to achieve the shine.

i heard baking soda good for removing stubborn dirt.but dont scrub too hard because the dirt will act as sand paper scratch paint surface.if you dont want to do it your self find a person that does detailing they probably do a good job on getting paint looking good again.they will also let you know if you need a new paint job or not.

What weight oil to use in the summer in a 2003 pontiac grand am

heavier oils are fine in warm summer months, 10W30 or 10W40-
all cars ran on these oils summer or winter for years. Newer vehicles are designed for 5W oils and you should use a 5W oil for them in the winter months

I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche. The driver side floor mats are constantly wet. The truck is in NY where it is the worst during the winter months. It dries up as the weather gets warmer. During rain...

Iwould tend to dough that its comeing from below . You say it will dry out if the weather is dry . Iwould suspect the windsheild possible leaking down behind the dashboard first . But look under the vehicle if it is getting in there it would have to be thrown from the front tire because the rain or snow would run off the thing so there would be some kind of a hole But i realy think the windsheild is the most likely cause if it were the passanger side i would say heater core witch is an other possibalty however you would likely see or smell antifreeze .The olny other thing that i can think of is if you have a sun or moon roof they have drains that out in the front cab corners through rubber hoses that run from the roof unit to the corners. Your going to have to take a hose and try differant spots and see if you can make it leak but do one area at a time and look for water . I wish you luck but i still think windsheild

2007 Chrysler 300. When outside temperature is below 30 degrees, I cannot keep the windows clear of moisture and fog. Even the defroster on high has difficulty clearing and keeping the windows clear. I do...

If your car has an air conditioner turn it on as well as the heater . Air conditioned air is very dry and usually defrosts the windscreen quickly. The heat from the heater will overcome the cold air from the air/con. It is good for the air/con to be run during the winter months as well as summer, it stops the seals drying out and leaking refrigerent.

What motor oil weight should I be using on my 96 olds 88....we live where the winter temps can go as low as -10 F and as hot as 95F in the summer

5w 30 or 10w 30 during the winter. After an oil change... check your oil after 200-300 miles of use. Is the level the same? If so your weight is fine. If it drops, it's to light of an oil and your engine is now "drinking it" like fuel, move to a heavier weight. As far as Changing between winter and summer. Changing Oil weights is not bad for your motor so if the winter you go with 5w 30 and it works, great, shoot for the same during the summer. If it seems to "drink it" during the summer using this weight, go up to the next (10w 30)

That being said. Changing from natural oil, to synthetic, back to naturual , or vice versa... swapping back and forth between these KINDS of oil has been known to cause damage. so whatever weight you decide on, stick with one "type", natural or synthetic.
