If you look on top of the engine in the valley you will probably see one of the Hpop oil lines leaking at the oring common for the 7.3
the oil runs out the back down to the starter

Massive oil leak when drivivg.

I have the same problem with my 2002 grand am and its the oil sensor sending unit it has a straight stream coming out. It sits right above the starter and saturates the starter with oil. It looks you could be leaking oil in many different spots. It looks like an oxygen sensor and very easy to change. If the threads are frozen from heat spray it with wd40 and let it sit for a while before loosening the sensor. Some oil will come out, I suggest draining the oil and disconnecting the battery because the starter is so close to the sensor before doing this job. I hope this helps you.

My car is leaking oil. i dont know if its the oil pan or the oil filter came loose? need to know where the oil filters located.

if it leaves small spots the chances are its the pan gasket but the oil filter should be located up in front of the engine on the right hand side... depending on the size of motor

2003 Beetle 2.0 has oil leak.Leaving oil on ground.Appears to be dripping off oil pan drain plug,Plug is tight.Any idea of what is above plug area that might be leaking.Oil filter is tight and not leaking

the plug is the lowest part, so any leak above it will end up at the plug, so make sure it has a good gasket at the plug. you may need to get some "brake cleaner" and clean any oil off, and then run the car and determine where the leak is originating from.

My 2003 bmw 325xi has a oil smell inside the car. no oil spots on garage floor but oil is needed once a month.

A small amount of oil could be leaking from valve cover on to hot manifold, the oil would burn off leaving a oil smell that could permiate car interior.

Well.. if the lights acts up like that,.. I would guess it will be electrical for sure,.... so I would start from the battery terminals,.. and check all the grounds,...
specially the ground to the body,.. right after the battery,... it's little poor place for a ground to be...
the way you have described,... it sounds like your ground is getting worse,... as the spotted problem is getting rusted,... or worsening in contact..,,,
when it's acting up,.. leave your key on,... and wiggle the said terminals,... if it contacts,.. will make sound,.. or leave your door open.. to signal the battery/ground spot.. there is couple of spots under the dash,.. that can cause,... but start at the battery side,.. and work your wayup...I had problem almost like yours,.. and it was the ground,.. nearby the battery ground,.. right by the fuse box.. hope your car has the same problem..

Thanks for contacting Fixya

Oil leak somewhere abouve the starter.

It could be transmission fluid. This can leak if not sealed off and they smell similar. If you can get some of that leak on the ground and a good amount, put water onto it. If it turns pink it's transmission fluid. If it stays black the oil line may run under there somewhere. Don't really know about them German cars.
