Question about 2004 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

No heat or cold air will come out of my2004 Mitsubishi Galant. I took off the dash panel behind the glove box to get to the Blend Door Motor, but after turning the air from hot to cold at various speeds, the motor appears to be working. What should I look at next?

Does the air blows through the dash board vents. Does the selector is functional, that means you can force the air stream through wind shield, or vents or down to the legs. If these things are OKthen check CONTROL PANEL.
Remove the trim plate surrounding the center instrument panel. Detach the electrical connectors and remove the control panel.

Why no heat

This van uses a power operated air temperature control blend door inside the air ducting, if the electric actuator that moves the door is defective or the door gets stuck (both are common) then you either get stuck with hot air or cold air all the time, that is likely your problem. To replace the blend door requires the venture dash be removed. Please have this confirmed by the dealer before you remove the dash which is a 12-14 hour job for an amateur

The heater isnt working, I heard a clicking sound coming from behind the dash board and now it only blows cold air...

The noise you are hearing is the blend door motor. It is a DC motor that moves a door in the heater box that controls the temperature of the air coming out of the box. There are two typical possiblities, one, the blend door motor is bad and two, the blend door is broken and the motor cannot move it.

I have a 2002 Galant. Air works fine, but when I switch cold/hot switch to hot it does not work. Once in awhile when the switch is turned to hot you can hear clicking noise. Like a door is closing or...

There is an electric motor that turns heater core on and off. It's located under the dash to the left of the glove box. Some disassembly required. The part will cost about $120 to $180. part number is #MR958603. I saved money by purchasing it on line. It is a stocking part at most Mitsubishi dealers. Once you pull the glove box out and remove the bottom half of the dash all the way across, you should be able to gain access to the motor to replace it. Caution: if you do not put everything back in correctly and tie/tape it all back down carefully in the correct places you will have lots of under the dash noises when you are done.

Clicking noise behind the glove box 95 galant

this caused by a defective climate control system air temperature control blend door actuator motor gear drive slipping and a poss warping and sticking blend door in the ducting, to change these parts requires the dash be remove from the car, both must be inspected

Hi..i put in the thing in the AC to make it get cool..and hot air still coming out of the vent..its not blowing cold...even the compressor comes on...but only one of the fans come on...can u help me...

The blend door is inside the box where the air flows from outside into the car. The air goes through the air conditioner first, then it goes to the blend door. When the door is open, the air will then go thru the heater and get hot. When the door is closed, the cold air will come out the vents. In this way, the blend door controls how much air goes thru the heater. When you are running the A/C, you want the blend door closed. If your a/c compressor is working but you are not getting cold air, the blend door may be stuck open.
My book shows your blend door is behind the glove box. It also says your door is controlled by a cable. What you should do is look behind the glove box to see what happens when you change the temperature on the panel. It should move a cable behind the glove box that turns a lever on the door. The cable should turn the lever as far as it will go. If it doesn't do that, it is either broken or needs to be adjusted. It may have slipped out of it's clamp. To adjust, loosen the clamp, turn the knob to cold, and push the door fully closed, then tighten the clamp.

Let me know if it doesn't look like what I'm saying or if you have other questions.

Heating problem

The ducting to the left must be fed from the heater box. Yet the blend door must not be sealing allowing the cold air the blend with the hot. Check the blend door mechanism, behind glove box, or some dash panels may need to be removed to access this door.

The heater and a/c blend door actuator motor is located behind the center of the dash just below the windshield. The steering column must be detached and lowered and the dash must be removed to access the blend door motor.
