Question about 2002 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus with factory radio. I want to put an aftermarket radio in. All the mounting kits I have found have the rear defrost button on the opposite side as where mine is. What should I do?

If you can, loosen the ties that hold the wires for the button and see if they will reach the new location. If not, splice in a bit of wire to extend the reach. I recommend soldering the connection, but you could use crimp connectors with a larger wire. Make sure the wire you splice is a little bigger than the factory wiring.

All the Fords I have ever been into have the factory amp mounted in the trunk, just below the rear seat package tray.

I PUT AN AFTERMARKET RADIO WONT POWER UP.

If your Trailblazer does not have rear seat audio, check the 15A RADIO FUSE in the I/P fuse panel. If your Trailblazer has rear seat audio, check 15A RADIO FUSE 41 and 10A HVAC B FUSE 36 in the rear fuse block. You may have to use a different adapter to get the radio to work.

Pull the radio and check the harness on the heater controls, probably just knocked the plug loose.

How to install an aftermarket stereo in a 87 ford Taurus

This is a very big task. If I was teaching you how to do it, it would take about 5 installs until I would let you do it by your self. If this is some thing that you want to do then there are tons of web sites on this topic. Tons of Youtube videos. You also need all the right tools. Good luck. PS You can always pay some one to install it and you can watch and learn.

1999 ford taurus speaker wires color code

the speaker wires are the same color at the rear control module as they are at the head unit

are you trying to replace the "football" type radio?
if so...what you are actually replacing is the "remote" for the rear control unit.

See the place you bought the radio from for a "special" kit to install an aftermarket radio on this system

Can not find where to plug CD player to the harness

does the radio have cd changer controlls? if so you may find the wires in the trunk if not you will have to buy a harness from ford and make sure the cd changer will work with the stock radio. Call the local ford dealer parts dep but make sure you have the vin number from the car with that they can look up the car and tell you what options where installed from the factory and can order the correct cable

Here are the factory wire colors, please rate this solution to your problem, a note any stereo store that sells auto decks has adapter wiring harnesses to do a direct plug in of your DIN standard radio you are trying to install, no cutting of the factory harness, they are cheap
