If I change a radiator over in my 90 series prado, can I just refill the transmission fluid/ fill the radiator and start it up, or do I need to do anything specific to avoid engine damage/radiator damage?

SOURCE: My car had an accident

Dear Fix Ya,

Thank you so much, your advice worked. We couldn't find a transmission flush but the wrong fluid was completely drained and since we didn't have a flush, the bottom plate was dismantled and the filter and all other srrounding parts were cleaned and fixed back before injecting the right fluid ATF Type T-IV.

For the first time in 5 months I drove my car for 3 hours without the car stopping and refusing to accelerate. I'm so happy the problem is over.

Two options;
) Put rubber plugs in the two lines when you remove them from the radiator.
) Get two pair of grip pliers and pinch the two hoses shut then remove them from the radiator..

SOURCE: My radiator reservoir has too much oil/fluid

It sounds like you're having a few problems. The "oil in the coolant reservoir" issue could be due to a blown head gasket, which is a common issue on Dodge/Chrysler V6 engines. Also, because of damage to the radiator, there could be a coolant leak or you could have air in your cooling system. I would have that looked at and/or replaced after having the head gasket checked.

SOURCE: how to fill automatic transmission fluid

If it is like most cars, you fill from a small tube run up into the engine compartment.
If it is one of those weird newer cars without a fill tube, then good luck. Then you have to get underneath and pump it into an overflow plug opening, while the engine is running. Dangerous. Have it done where they have a lift. Does not need it often.

How do i drain transmission fluid and replace trans-filter 1996 chevy suburban 4x4 454

Finding where to put transmission fluid can be a bit of a challenge on some cars. In fact there are some transmissions that you can't even add fluid to.But that's not the case on your vehicle.

First confirm the level of fluid before filling it.==========For exact transmission fluid replacing/filling procedure.Go through the list of help links below:-----its having complete step by step procedure.Click the link :----

The fluid from my transmission is mixing with radiator fluid. I was told that the core is burnt out in my radiator, and all that was needed to be done is to replace the old radiator with a new one and...

Hello
What happened is the tube that goes thru the radiator sprung a leak and coolant is getting in the trans and visa-vera so the answer that you got is 100% correct. But you have to change trans fluid and coolant and do NOT drive or you will be buying a new trans. Thanks

Cant find where to put gear lube in my manual transmission for my mazda mx-3

First, raise the vehicle and make sure it's level.

There's a large bolt (19mm?) on the bottom of the transmission (not on the bell housing). Once you remove the bottom bolt, the fuild will drain out as if you were changing your engine oil. Once done, you'll reinstall the bolt.

To refill the fluid (about 2 1/2 quarts IIRC), theres another bolt on the side of the transmission (radiator side). Remove it and fill with fluid until it starts to drip out. Then reinstall the bolt and you're done!

You may need a pump to get the fluid into the hole..

How much transmission fluid is needed in a 1991 chev 1/2 ton pickup . Changing tranmission fluid and filter.

Dear Madam or Sir,

the problem with this the fact, that a large amount of fluid will remain in the torque converter. So knowing how much fluid has to be filled into an empty transmission will not be useful for you, you would overfll your transmission.

Usually you have to measure the amount of oil coming out of the transmission and refill the same amount .

Now you have to refill quart-wise, check the oil level, fill up and so on.

There´s no better solution I can offer you, I´m sorry.

I need to know how to change the transmission fluid in my 1998 bravada

There are a few mays to do this, you could take it to the transmission shop and have them service it or you can do it your self. If you want to replace the transmission fluid and filter you have to drop the transmission oil pan, your going to have to remove the oil pan bolts and shifter linkage to the 4X4 and once the pan is off. Just pull off the oil filter from the valve body and replace the O ring with  the new O rings to ensure the new filter will not fall off from the valve body and then re-install the everything in revers. Once the pan is back on refill the transmission with AFT and test drive. The other way you can drain the system with out the filter replacement is to disconnect the transmission line at the radiator on the passenger side, top by the radiator cap. Connect a hose to the line to a large bucket and start the engine, the fluid will drain fast so be ready to turn the engine off so you don't burn out the front pump. you can also judge how much fluid is in the transmission by the amount of fluid is collected in the bucket. Note: make sure you have a large bucket. Once you think you have drained enough transmission fluid, turn the engine off and re-install the transmission line to the radiator and refill the transmission with AFT.
Automatic Transmission, 4L60-E Initial Fill..........4.7 liters
Automatic Transmission, Total Fill  4 speed 4L60-E..........10.6 liters

Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.

The housing that the axles come out of is the transmission so if you lost fliud out of there, it's transmission fliuld if it's a manuel transmission you fill from the side of the transmission if it's an automatic transmission you fill it from under the hood in the dip stick tube good luck

Auto transmission taking lots of fluid to fill

did you recently empty the tranni? like fluid or filter change? If not, there is a leak. I've seen the radiator go bad and tranni fluid gets forced into the cooling system. Check cooling system for reddish oily substance. If there is, replace radiator and refill tranni and cooling systems. may be a good idea to do cooling system flush.
