Question about 2005 Honda Accord

1 Answer

My 2003 honda accord radio/stereo audio goes dead abruptly, all I hear is occasional static. Sometimes, if I turn it on/off the sound may come back for a little while then goes to static/quiet again. Changing stations AM/FM doesn't help. With the CD I get the same problem, I can still load cds and tracks seem to play on display, but no audio can be heard.

It sounds like something in the output circuit since it is both radio and CD.Obviously it hasn't been doing it from day 1 of getting the car or you wouldn't be just asking now right? The connector is not likely just because it doesn't get touched or anything. It needs repair or you may want to try a salvage yard for a used one or maybe even a whole new aftermarket one (Sony,Panasonic, etc.)For repair you are looking at removal, shipping, repair probably around $40-$60/hour.Parts have at least a 20% markup by repair centers. It may be a $2 part bad too.I would call a Honda dealer or an electronics repair center and they should be able to tell you maybe a little but you can't get an accurate cost unless you send it in.They normally will not charge you to ship it back if you send it and decide not to repair.Good luck! Radio static

Check your antenna. If the mast is not extended, your reception will be limited. try an AM station, usually a local AM station will still come in even with the mast down. Have you tried playing a CD (if equipped) ? If that plays well, you've confirmed lack of reception as the problem. If the mast is extended and you still do not have reception, the antenna plug my have come out of the back of the radio. The requires removing the radio to check.

Accord 2003 radio works sparadically. you a big a crack or pop and the sound goes away. days or weeks later it comes back on. the back light and panel is visible. what is causing the sound to come on and...

Sounds like a defective radio, look on ebay for a replacement. Easier to spend 20 bucks on someone else's cast off than get a new one or have that one fixed. After you have a replacement take it to a car stereo store and pay them a few bucks to put it in for you. If you know what you are doing just takes a few minutes.

My 2003 Accord LX does the same thing. It started about 6mo ago and it becomes more and more often. I just went outside to kick the off from inside the wheel wells and the stereo came on.

My 2005 Accord's radio / CD player will not produce sound to the speakers, the display panel works fine. Sometimes a loud static sound will come from the speakers with no volume control, powering off gets...

The sound chip may have gone in the stereo, especially if someone has had it on very loud they sometimes blow, otherwise you have 2 speaker wires touching each other, that way you only get static noise, insidee the door they sometimes come free and touch the body

Check all your speaker wires first.

Itaked the batrey from mi car and when

Your car’s audio system will disable itself if it is disconnected from electrical power for any reason. To make it work again, you must enter a specific five-digit code in the Preset buttons. Because there are hundreds of number combinations possible from five digits, making the system work without knowing the exact code is nearly impossible.
You should have received a card with your manual (if you have one) that lists your audio system’s code number and serial number. If you don't have the card, you can get the code number from your Honda dealer, but to do this, you will need the system’s serial number, or maybe the accord's vin number.
If your car’s battery is disconnected or goes dead, or the radio fuse is removed, the audio system will disable itself. If this happens, you will see ‘‘Code’’ in the frequency display the next time you turn on the system. Use the Preset buttons to enter the five-digit code. If it is entered correctly, the radio will start playing.
Hope this is helpful.

It sounds as if the antenna has become disconnected from the radio. You will have to pull the radio out of the dash and make sure the antenna is still connected there, then check and make sure it is still connected to at the fender well and in between.

The radio antenna is shared by the rear defroster, there is a part called the "Antenna Amplifier-Rear Window Defogger Coil", it is behind the left side rear pillar trim. It prevents the static from happening.
