Has a p0301 code mis fire #1clylinder , what is this problem

Just what the code & you said

Cylinder #1 (PO301) is misfiring,you have
a bad COP (Coil-On-Plug) Ignition Coil that failed

I have a 2004 LS V8 I have had one fail twice &
I had 7 fail at once ,all in the last 2 1/2 years, very, very
common on fords with cop coils

The codes on a LS are not always correct if you
have a really bad coil.

I have replaced coils based on a code as you have
I have had to walk a new coil from one cyl to the next
I also have used professional scan tool software on a note
book successfully & recently had no luck with that &
just replaced the remaining Original ford coil

So you have to learn as you go & kind of get involved
& make love to the all troublesome fords & lincolns, some
shop don't care for

I order my coils, etc from Rock Auto.Com
About 30% less than autoparts store

You can do yourself if you have a V8
If you have V6 you can do the driver side
& the pass side you have to remove the
upper intake,so then you do all 3 coils
bad or not, & save them for another day

If you go to a shop they better be on their game
& not throw parts at it

I have had a bad battery cause similar issues
I have had a bad battery cause all sorts of throttle
body issues.

Stay away from a dealer
I have seen people spend $2,500 with no results,
when a $59.00 coil & 1/2 hour of your time, would solve
the problem,IF you know the routine

Cylinder Location --Front to Back

1-2-3-4 pass side
5-6-7-8 driver side

1-2-3
4-5-6

Check engine light can on had check at Auto zone says # 5 cly. miss fire . can it be coil pack or spark plug ?i think it coil on # 5 cly. how hard is it to get to ?

If it's a 6 cyl.,3.0 you're in for some expense. The coil pack(s) is under the intake manifold. This involves much labor and draining of coolant, etc. don-ohio

2003 lincoln ls v8 has misfire code p0316 wat coil # is it to get it replaced

PO 316 -- is a misfire on the first 1000 revolutions

You get that & sometime a lot of other codes you ignore

You may or may not have PO301 thru PO308 codes
The last # is the cylinder

1,2,3,4 Pass Side
5,6,7,8, Driver Side

Front to back

All you can do is buy one new coil and try it in
a cyl with a code or you may have to walk the
new coil from one cyl to the next and drive few
days in between.

The other choice is a repair shop with an oscilloscope
and the inductive coil pick up adapter

Ignition coils setup for 2004 lincoln ls v8 3.9 engine

COP Coils
cyl 1,2,3,4 on pass side-front to back
cyl 5,6,7,8 on driver side -front to back
Remove coil covers on top of valve covers, 7mm socket and wrench
7mm socket and one screw holding coil
Codes PO 301 to PO 308 are your coil locations.Last # is cyl.
You get all sorts of codes, ignore all but the 301.302,etc
If you get an ETC Failsafe or shut down,a coil is spiking the PCM and coming back on both sides of the TPS and putting it into Failsafe. Still just a really bad coil. You will get about two a year.

I assume this has 8 coils, the one you are checking,is it the right one, have you located the exact cylinder miss fire?I believe,if I am not wrong,it has two coils per cylinder,It is showing this on the code.It is the primary coil, coil A ,the secondary coil is not showing up,any way, it is showing that the boot on the coil is leaking, and not sparking the spark plug.Let me know if I can help.
