If you feel confident enough remove ecu from behind glovebox to nuts near top off battery on firewall open it up there are 4 torx that hold the board in remove theboard and hold up to light you will see the circuit on no 3 pin is getting hot solder a new jumper in its place and replace diode . i have my yj yrs im on my 3rd ecu allways the same issue i couldnt afford a new one so opened it up and saw the issue i traced it back to where the harness pierces the firewall two wires had chaffed and were occasionally shorting out reaired wires replaced diode been running great for 12 months hope this helps

The ignition has an electronic control unit, (ECU) that has a relay in it that is probably malfunctioning. You can have it tested at a place like Autozone, but if it is intermittant, they may miss the problem. But I would assume it is probably going to get worse.

I own a 1990 YJ Jeep 4.2 If I drive the Jeep every day it starts and runs great. If the car sits for several days it is extermly hard to start If I use a small amount of starting fluid, it will fire...

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Its not holding the pressure over a period of time. Making it difficult to start after its been sitting.

1990 jeep yj 4.2 straight 6 carburated will turn over but will not start

First try shooting some starting fluid in intake manifold, and if fires up but still won't keep running, my guess next would be your looking and checking out your fuel pump. You can check that out my removing a line and see if fuel is pumping out of the out put of fuel pump. Because it it carburated its pretty easy to trouble shoot. It's going to be in most cases spark plugs , fuel pump.

90 yj only 70k on it sat for 2 years. 4.2 carb, ran one day now hard start, runs for 15 min. then dies. cant restart unless kept in start position. not ign. switch, fuel pump, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, or...

Check the fuel for a presence of water. I'm sure there was a recall notice on the gasket on top of the fuel tank where the sending unit mounts. My YJ sat for a year and had water in the tank from this leaking. Drain and drop the tank, replace the gasket, and reinstall.

My 95 yj hard too start after i change my fuel

when it does not start you need to verify no fuel pressure, Most likely your problem is the wiring harness is bad which will destroy a new pump if the pump is not geting the voltage required.

1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L Fuel Pump/Check engine light

Could be one of several items...I'd check the fuel pump relay, auto shutdown relay and the ignition switch itself. I'd bet on it being one of those relays but, we all have been fooled at least once!!! I'd also make sure that body and engine grounding is good and clean. Relays can't work properly without a good ground.

1987 Jeep YJ Hard to start hot

Sounds like a bad distributor control module. You blew-up your muffler because there was no spark.....lots of fuel in the exhaust....then an intremittent spark......BOOM!
Once the module cools off, it works again, because the crack in the circuit board re-connects....until it gets hot again, and opens the circuit........no more spark. Replace the module.

No injector pulse, no current to the injector

Check the pickup in the distributor as this is the cam sensor. The injectors run of the pulses created while the rotor is turning around. It should be a plastic disk located under the rotor button.

95 jeep yj wont start

have you checked the fuel pump ? the fuel pump is in the fuel tank and it may be that the fuel guage inside the tank is broken and or not attached to the pump. This is a big job but with a little help from buddys and a bit patients it can be repaired.
