Could be a idle air valve problem

i had the same problem with my 2001. On the left side of your air box there are these little piston, censor things, they come out simply with a screw driver. They look like little knobs on the side of the air box. Cant quite remember what they are called. There are two, the top one, unscrew, and check if its crowded with grease and sludge. If so, clean it up, if not youll need a new part. I cleaned mine with a little carbonator cleaner and she runs like a charm. Hopfully you can figure out what im talking about! Sorry couldnt be more specific.

Running problems

Idle air control valve or a vacuum leak, the idle air control valve controls the amount of air let into your engine when you start or while running you holding your foot on the gas lets more air in.

It started, when i put it in reverse it died. now it will not start.it turns over and acts like it wants to start but wont. there is gas in it.

Engage the "clear flood mode" by holding the gas pedal to the floor while cranking. This cuts down on fuel delivery to clear a flooded engine. As the engine starts and runs, let up on the gas.
