Have you checked the oil? Sometimes the shops don't get the drain plug in tight and the oil leaks out. Or the oil filter is not put on tight and leaks all of the oil out. I would check the oil. Walmart did it to my mothers car once. They replaced the motor, but that is what happen.

It depends what the noise is. Did you check and verify that the oil level is OK? Find the source of the noise.

I have a 1998 chevy cavalier with a 2.4L under the hood. No it is not the z24 it is a 4 door that came with the big 4 cylinder. Now I just got my oil changed and a day later the car started to make a funky...

take the car back to the place you had the oil changed and tell your story sounds like the oil plug or filter was left loose . i think your 4 cylinder is oil pressure senative . i mean if you loose oil pressure the engine will stop

My 1998 malibu was leaking radiator coolant we changed the water pump and it stopped.2 weeks later the coolant is now leaking fron the center above the oil pan what could be the problem?

If you have the 3.8 engine there are two bypass tubes(90 degree elbows) That can go bad. One is in the center of the engine under the intake, you can bearly see it, the other is to the left of that. these are not hard to replace . If you need instructions to do the job yourself let me know I will help.

How to adjust valves on a 98 chevy malibu

the valves are hydralic and require no adjustment. if noisey then a bad lifter/rocker arm/cam shaft may be the problem. also low oil level,or foamy oil from to much oil or a leak in the oil pump pickup system could cause noise

2000 Chevy Malibu making knocking sound when AC is on

Is it noisy with only the blower fan on or does the A/C have to be on to get the noise.
Try using the heater only and see if the noise is present.
Let me know.

How do i change the oil pump on 98 chevy malibu

Are you sure it's the oil pump, Most of the time it's the oil sensor that has gone bad. Just trying to save you lot's of job since the oil pump is at the bottom of the engine in the oil pan. You can check by having the engine running and looking down the hole where the oil filler cap goes. Rev the engine up a bit and you should see oil splashing around which means your oil pump is working. Your oil pressure is created by the crank shaft. Good luck
