You can't get it for free, but a Chilton or Mitchell manual for your car is not very expensive...

What causes the camshaft position sensor fault on a 58 1.2 VW Fox?

Try to clean the connectors from the Camshaft sensor to the control box. There are only a few possibilites for this problem. The grounding of the sensor, bad pickup contacts or a bad circuit in the control box which receives the signal.

You may be able to find some Diagrams at and when you register your car for free you get access to the pictures of the Fusebox and chassis diagrams. Your car may be less common than most at this site so you may have to try other sources.

I would also suggest for Consumer complaints and investigations about defects. Blogs from VW owners, catagorized by model or 1.2L engine discussion could also help you.

I hope my solution gives you a successful outcome.

How to wire in vw abf engine 2.0L 16v in to fuse box.

You'll need to use the wiring from the 2.0L motor. Your best bet is to get Bentley manuals for the car the motor came from and for yours. They have very very detailed wiring diagrams, to do the swap.

Front wipers not working on vw fox 57 plate, any advice

We had the same problem and ours was the fuse. Open the fuse box cover below the steering wheel and you will see 3 rows of fuses, the top row are horizontal (these are spare fuses) and the two rows underneath are vertical. You will need to use a pair of narrow pliers to remove the red 10 amp fuse from the 7th slot from the left hand side. When you have removed it you should be able to see that the fuse wire inside is broken. Replace it with the spare red 10 amp fuse from the top row. This solved our problem. VW need a kick up the backside for not even providing a fuse diagram for the Fox.

Vw fox lights do not go on despite changing fuses and relays

Try testing the switch and then the relay. Usually its the switch. Use a flat screw driver to pull it s out of there connector. Use a jumper wire and shop manual to jump the terminals and see if the lights come on. If they do its the switch.
The relay you check for continuity and resistance.
