Unless the CX-7 is different from all other cars I've driven, the filter is a cylindrical painted metal can, about 3 or 4 inches in diameter and 3 to 6 inches long. It can any color, depends on the brand. Go to an auto parts store and ask them for one for your vehicle, and look at it. Different vehicles take different sizes.
It is almost always located on the side of the engine block, between the oil pan on the bottom and the cylinder heads on the top. (You generally have to put the car up on ramps to reach it from the bottom, but I assume you are changing the oil, so you have to get under it to remove the oil drain plug as well.)
When you remove it, be careful for oil that may leak out of it as you are unscrewing it.

I have a Mazda 2008 CX 7, had oil changed. I have a oil leak, wife started to work three day after oil change no oil in car. What could be wrong.

fix the oil leak as there is more oil coming out than you realized
could it be a loose or incorrectly fitted oil filter

Had my 2008 Mazda servicedwith replacement of front brakes oil filter and air filter changed, after that the check engine light would not go off

take it back to teh garage and ask them nicely if they can have a look for you ,dont shout or scream but be firm and dont pay for the extra if they ask for it

Where's the engine air filter in a mazda cx-9

follow the air intake pipe back from the throttle body after removing the top engine will see the filter housing.
