Any brand of oil is ok, I would stay away from jiffy store oil, but all the name brands meet ASE specs, you want to use a multi-viscosity 10w40 weight or something like that, The weight of the oil goes by where you live. Florida? We use 10w40, up north, you can get by with 10w30, or just straight 30 weight, the difference is in the outside temperature. Oil viscosity is measured like little tiny beads in the oil, the bigger the number, the bigger the beads, the beads are what the metal parts slide on. Hope this helps.

It may be 5w30, sometimes it written on the oil cap, if not refer to the owners manual. If you dont have that, the Mobil 1 site has a list to tell you what it should be.

What kind of oil does it use?

Hi Tami.

The answer will depend quite a bit on the type of vehicle you're talking about. For many newer cars, if you pop the hood, the oil fill cap will likely say what type of oil is supposed to be used. If you have the owners manual, there is probably a section toward the end with 'capacities and measures' that will say things like type of oil and how much is used in an oil change.

Hope that helped!

At the first 7,500 miles the oil light did not go on.... is it supposed to?

The oil pressure light is supposed to come on when you switch the ignition on, and then go off within seconds of the engine starting. If however it is an oil level light, it is not supposed to come on until the oil level falls to the stage where it needs to warn you that it requires top up. Please rate this solution if you find it useful.

If you have a four cylinder engine are you supposed to change the oil more around 3,000 miles? I have a V6 now and wait up until 4,000-4,500 miles between changes. Is it still okay to do that with a four?

I would refer to your vehicals owners manual for any kind of service, in the service and appearance care section the manufacturer will specify at what mileage interval to change the engine oil in that particular vehical.....

04 grand cherokee V8 all wheel drive ,trans oil in rad and trans slipping where vehicle will not move?

Transmission oil in the radiator: Suspect you may also have water in transmission.

Likely culprit is the transmission has a small line that runs transmission fluid thru the radiator to cool the transmission fluid. It is supposed to be a closed system. Sounds like your radiator failed. Would expect with this kind of failure, you should replace and not repair the radiator. Then you need to flush and replace fluid & filter in transmission.

Is there supposed to be oil around the tappets on a diesel engine?

The mechanic should check on the tappets and check some oil seal that are worn out or destroyed .It is the cause that's why there is a leak on the tappet some oil seals are worn out or destroyed. And its the reason why oil flow over or on the tappet.

Pipe? More details please (looks kind of like?) Sure it's not an oil spout maybe? Check oil, check coolant level, etc, be on safe side.
