The oil pressure switch may be bad, see if its leaking, although it can be bad and not be leaking. but either way, replace it, and see if that clears up your problem. If your engine really does have a oil presure problem, thats bad.

2006 Kia Optima oil light flashes sometimes when Ideling. Don't know what to do.

When the oil lamp lights, it means that your oil pump is not giving the right pressure or it is not working, If it only happens during idling, it indicates that the pump is about to wear and needs servicing, If its intermittent, it may just be a loose wire connection to the sender or a defective sending unit. Try to replace first the oil pressure sending unit.

Just changed oil in kia sorento 06 manuel transmission oil light stays on and clatters

Hi there,

DANGER....this is telling you there is NOT enough oil pressure. The clatter you hear means inadequate oil is reaching the cams or lifters.

Can you confirm you have used the correct grade & viscosity of oil? Is oil leaking?

Please re-check the oil level again - allow vehicle to sit for 5mins, then check oil level on the ENGINE dipstick. If dipstick level is up to the full mark, then assume you have enough oil and let the engine idle for 5mins.

If the clatter remains, then suspect a problem with the oil pump, or oil filter causing a blockage.

Cheers,

Oil light comes on and blinks then goes off . sometimes doesn't come on at all for a couple of days. It never comes on and stays constant red.

Have you checked your oil level? This light indicates either an oil level problem or an oil pressure problem.

The check engine light on my 2008 Kia Spectra came on tonight as I was driving home. I live at least 30 miles from the nearest auto service shop. Is it safe to drive my car to the shop?

probably, the check engine light could come on for so many reasons that i wouldnt have space here to list them, if it the first time its come on, then your probably ok, i have friends who continually drive with the check engine light and thier car seems just fine....

MIL Check Engine Light Stays on

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2002 SEDONA. I HAVE HAD IT TO SEVERAL DEALERS AND ALL HAVE THE SAME ANSWER, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. SO I JUST FORGET ABOUT IT. CHECK YOUR WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID, ENSURE IT IS FULL, TRANSMISSION FLUID, ENGINE OIL, BRAKE AND POWER FLUID, THE NORM. IF NONE OF THIS WORKS, DON'T SPEND ALOT WORRYING ABOUT IT.

Overheating

Sounds like there's a leak in your coolant system or the gagues are malfunctioning. My friend has a 2005 Spectra5 and he has been having problems with the check engine light. Apparently it's a software problem that he's waiting for the manufacturer to have a fix for it. My recommendation is to take it into the dealership right away, perhaps even have it towed in just in case it may cause damage to the engine to drive it as is. A suggestion when you have a brand new car, you should not take it on long freeway trips (i.e. do not let the engine set at a fixed engine speed including idle) for more than 10 minutes at a time until you have 500 miles on it to allow it to properly break in first.
