Black usually means too rich, look for intake leaks on the OTHER bank, mostly....

If you have no error codes in the computer, it may not need further investigation.

Firing order mitsubishi 3.5

Mitsubishi Montero 3.5 V-6n24 valve

Looking from the front of engine to the rear on the passenger side 1-3-5
Looking from the front of the engine to the rear on the drivers side 2-4-6

The engine has coil over plug with coils only on the drivers side. The spark is shared via spark plug cables to the plugs on the passenger side. So If you are replacing the spark plug cables:

#2 cyl.coil drivers side shares spark with #5 passenger side-
#4 coil drivers side shares spark with #1 passenger side-
#6 coil drivers side shares spark with #3 cylinder passenger side.

Need picture to be for sure of oil drain plug, and how do you change spark plugs

I can't offer a picture, but the drain plug is located at the very bottom of the engine, on the drivers side of the oil pan (the big black tube thing). It will be a 15mm bolt. The spark plugs, there are 4 on both sides of the engine. Follow the large ignition wires to each. You will need a spark plug socket or a deep 5/8" socket to remove. Remove the ignition wire from the spark plug (one at a time to not mix up). Remove the spark plug, replace. The center one (6cyl) or 3 one in on the drivers side (8cyl), can be tricky. The steering shaft is tight to the plug, you may need to loosen off with a wrench.

I replaced my spark plug wires on my 1996 chevy truck. may have crossed one, need a diagram from the spark plugs to the distributer cap.

Since you didn't state whether it is a V6 or V8, I'll give you both.

V6 -4.3Liter
Firing Order is 1-6-5-4-3-2
Distributor rotor turns Clockwise
Number 1 spark plug tower on distributor cap, faces the front of the engine.

->Drivers side, spark plug order in engine, starting from the Front going back:
1-3-5
->Passenger side, spark plug order in engine,
starting from the Front going back:
2-4-6

If it's Electronic, the distributor cap has a Left side, (Drivers side), and a Right side, (Passenger side)
Starting from the Front, going back on the Left side,
3-1-5
Starting from the Front going back on the Right side,
2-4-6

V8-5.0, 5.7, and 7.4Liter
Firing Order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
Distributor rotor turns Clockwise
Number 1 spark plug tower on distributor cap,
faces Front, towards the Drivers side.

Electronic distributor cap has two sides. Drivers, (Left), side and Passenger, (Right), side.
Starting from Front going back on Drivers side,
1-7-3-5
Starting from Front going back on Passenger side,
8-2-4-6

Spark plug order in engine, starting from Front going back, Drivers side:
1-3-5-7
Spark plug order in engine, starting from Front going back, Passenger side:
2-4-6-8

Plug replace

This is a outstanding question!!! The plugs or wires are not visible from the top or sides of the moter. You just can't see em'!!! You have to remove the large black plastic air intake. Then remove the intake manafold(not too hard to do) to access the spark plugs and wires.
Also: After removing all the black plastic air intake stuff, you'll have to remove the coil pack (long black plastic thing that says "Ecotek" on top). The coil pack is removed by disconnecting the wire connector on the driver's side end and then removing four bolts. To lift off the coil pack, you'll have to pull upwards firmly and evenly from both sides, because the spark plug boots or wires are holding onto the spark plugs as well as the coil. With the coil pack removed, look down into the silver channels - there's the plugs. To remove, you'll need a plug socket head and a socket wrench with long extension. To replace the plugs, I use an extra or old spark plug boot to hold the plug and get it started turning into the engine threads. Good Luck!

Spark plug replacement

Plugs are under the coil pack. The black rectangle on top of the valve cover. Remove the plug on the drivers side, and remove the 4, 10mm bolts. Lift up the coil straight up. Will be fairly tough, and your plug wells are in there.

Car mont start. does not turn over

You need to find out if the problem is related to spark, fuel, or air. First thing - when you turn the key to full electrical power (right before you crank the engine), do you hear the fuel pump kick on? It's a slight whirring sound behind you, and lasts about two seconds. If not, check the fuel pump relay (blue relay in the driver's kickpanel), and check the fusebox to be sure the fuse isn't blown.

If you hear the pump come on, chances are the rest of your fuel system is probably OK (the Z isn't known for common failures of the fuel pressure regulator or leaking injector O-rings). Time to turn to the spark side of the equation.

Unbolt a coilpack (look between the runners of the intake manifold and remove the two 12mm bolts you see, which secure a bracket - that's the coil pack bracket). Pull the coil pack out and remove the spark plug. Put the plug into the coil pack, make sure the coil pack connector is plugged in, and have someone crank the key for just a second, while you hold the coil pack with the spark plug ground touching the manifold. If you have spark, you'll see it flash. If you don't see a spark, there's a very good chance that the power transistor unit (PTU) is dead. This was the one and only recall on the Z32. It's a small black box on the front of the engine, passenger side, bolted to the upper timing cover. It has a 6-7 wire harness coming into one side, and going out the other side. If it dies, your car won't start until it's replaced.

If neither spark nor fuel is the problem, then clean or replace the mass airflow sensor. Also, have the cam position sensor checked (this is the round metal device on the driver's side timing belt cover) - that thing is the root of all Z evil and can cause many different problems with these cars.
