SOURCE: Hyundai Excel brake lights stay

Mine does the same and I am currently getting it fixed.
Basically the brake pedal, when not depressed, is placed against a switch which turns off the brake light (even when the car is not on). There is a rubber disc that connects the two, which in my car has disintegrated into bits. If I stuff things between the two (like the crumbling bits of the rubber disc) the brake lights turn off, but as soon as I use the brakes again, the bit I stuffed in falls out. You can look at it yourself, but it is in a difficult spot around the top of the brake pedal.
At this stage I am been advised that I must replace the whole switch, but I am contemplating finding an improvised solution (like tap washers) as it seems a simple problem to fix.

SOURCE: Brake Lights Stay On When Car Is Off

Is it the brake light or the tail light? Does it go out when you pull back on the brake pedal?

SOURCE: i need to set timing on my hyundai xg350

It is a pain in the **** on the 3.5L. One trick I have found is not only do you have to take the hydrolic tensioner off, but it makes it easier if you also loosen the manual tensioner right by the hydrolic one. there are 2 holes in the pully. when you finally get the belt on when lined up correctly, turn the tensioner so the belt is really tight, you should be able to pull the pin on the hydrolic tensioner and put it back in. If the belt is too loose in front one of the cams will spin to one tooth off. have patience, these belts are a pain!!!!!!

2006 Kia Amanti... the brake lights stay on

If the brake lights stay on even if the car is turned off (or even if it is on) the first thing I would be checking is the brake pedal switch under the dash. Brake lights are activated when the brake pedal is depressed and comes off the switch or the return spring is broken or stretched not allowing it to fully return when foot is taken off the brake pedal.

I have hyundai accent 2002 & Suddenly the brake light on the back came on & is not going off even I turned off my car. I tried & finally I needed take my battery off the connection. can you...

on the brake pedal there is a switch, when you push the pedal the small plunger gets pushed in and makes a contact which completes the circuit and gives you brake lights. More than likely the plunger on the switch is stuck on the inward position and causing your brake lights to stay on.it is easy to replace, either two screws or you twist it out of the bracket, depending on your model.

This is a fairly serious problem because it risks your cars security at night by allowing people a way in. I would immediately take it to a professional so he can chase wires and see where they go. He should also have a wiring diagram to see how it should be wired. I'm sure he could get it figured out within a couple days and have everything looking like direct from the factory. Do not allow your repair guy to leave covers off or carpet pulled out.

The brake lights won't go off even though the car is off. I checked everything (no doors open, not the parking brake). On my drove home, the brake pedal was making a metalic clicking noise when I pressed...

hi from uk this fault is most probably your brake pedal switch is not being pushed to off poosition by pedal when released hence b/lights stay on the b/lights do operate with and without ignition on on hyundais as for your symptoms of clicking ?? as pedal pressed ? this may well be there is a crack on pedal box or the pedal ? strongly advise you check this out ! however for now you can reach under lower dash and diconnect the wire plug from the b/light switch or remove fuse for brake lights to prevent battery drain and or blowing bulbs eventually due to higher wattage of brake lights bulbs heating up if left on hope this helps?
