I have a 1994 chevy s-10 pick-up. I just replaced the gas tank, sending unit and fuel pump. Still won't start Prior to doing this I tried to drive it last week. It started and ran for about 2 minutes and...

Check the distributor cap and rotor.... If they look originial or if there's any moisture inside the cap, replace both of them.
Make sure that if you do replace them that theres no moisture in the distributor before putting new parts in.

Will the fuel regulator switch stop my 2000 Nissan quest gxe from starting even if the fuel pump works

The fuel pump is located in the gas tank and the fuel pump fuse is located on the interior fuse box at the lower left end of the dashboard in the upper left corner of the panel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fuel tank pressure sensor

there is an autoshutoff relay that works both ignition and the fuel pump..if the key is turned to the run position, you should hear the tank pump come on for 2-3 seconds.. if not replace the relay..up front under the hood..parts store can tell the location of the relay..

Do i have to remove the tank to change the fuel pump

  • 1 Remove the fuel filler cap from the gas tank to relieve any built-up pressure in the tank.

  • 2 Look under the center console for the fuel pump relay. You will see a box with 12 fuses. The relay is clearly labeled with a "- 10 -". Switch off the relay fuse.

  • 3 Start the engine and wait for it to stall. This will tell you when all the pressure has been relieved in the fuel system and the fuel within the pump lines is completely used up.

  • 4 Remove the negative cable from the battery terminal with a socket wrench.

  • 5 Siphon all remaining fuel from the fuel tank with a fuel siphon.

  • 6 Raise the 2000 Saturn with a jack. Lower the vehicle onto jack stands.

  • 7 Remove the rubber grommet around the top of the fill pipe. Use a socket wrench to remove the screw under the grommet.

  • 8 Disconnect the fuel tank sensor and fuel pump unit. These two wires are located under the car , just above the fuel tank.

  • 9 Disconnect the fill pipe with a socket wrench. Use a ratchet to release the clamps.

  • 10 Remove the fill pipe. It should slide off once the clamps are removed.

  • 11 Disconnect the filter/pressure regulator, which is located near the fuel tank, and slide it out of the way.

  • 12 Support the fuel tank on a wood block using the floor jack to hold it in position directly under the tank. This will prevent the tank from falling and cracking.

  • 13 Remove the retaining straps holding the tank in position with a socket wrench. Carefully lower the tank.

  • 14 Hammer the lock ring on top of the fuel tank loose with a brass punch. Do this carefully to avoid damaging the piece, tapping the ring counterclockwise.

  • 15 Pull the old assembly out of the tank and set the new one inside.

  • 16 Reassemble the fuel tank and secure it back onto the 2000 Saturn.

  • 17 Raise the Saturn above the jack stands. Remove the stands and lower the vehicle to the ground. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. Switch on the fuel pump relay fuse. Close the hood.

1998 ford escort has full power , stalled at intersection and now wont start, any ideas

might have a fuel filter problem or a fuel pump problem meaning the filter might be clogged or the fuel pump in the gas tank is not pumping check ur fuse box there is a fuse for the fuel pump in there if it if blown replace and then turn car over again. if its ok then it still could be a fuel pump problem check the fuel filter located by the gas tank under the car or take to a local mechanic if u do not want to do it ur self. fuel filter is easy to change very easy.a fuel pump on most cars the gas tank as to be dropped.

Fuel pressure regulator location on a 2002 Dodge Caravan .The van stalls when trying to slow down or comming to a stop.

The regulator is in the fuel tank. You must drop the tank to get to the system It is part of the fuel pump/fuel pressure regulator/fuel level sending unit. If just changing the regulator which you can, make sure you install new o-rings, put a little clean gas on them to install. Cheaper than a new fuel pump.

2000 cadillac dts. Vehicle is engine is skipping ane fuel needle pegs out to (E) empty while driving.

Sounds like at least one or more of the electrical wires leading to your fuel pump may be shorting out. Possibly corrosion or a weak point. If it is happening intermittently, the connection is probably on the verge of breaking, at which point your vehicle will stall and you will not be able to restart it. You will think that you have run out of gas because your fuel indicater will of course be buried in Empty, even if you have just filled the tank. In an attempt to locate a weak link in the electrical wires, start at the gas tank and trace the wires from there back to the engine. The wires are likely housed loosely in a plastic tubing that protects them under the vehicle and the corrosion point is usually near the end of the plastic tubing just short of where they connect at the plug at the fuel tank. If you find a weak link, you can slide the protective cover back, cut the weak part of the wire out, splice it back together. However, once you have cut one or more of the wires to the fuel pump, your vehicle's "computer" may have to be reset in order for it to even turn over because some vehicles have that default safety feature programmed into their "brain". (not a gadget the average DIY mechanic has in their tool box). There is very possibly a way to interupt the signal to the "brain" while splicing the wires, so that the "brain" is unaware that the wires were cut. Maybe disconnecting the battery, but of this I do not know. I don't think that temporarily pulling the (larger) fuse to the fuel pump would do the trick, because I think some computers have to be reset if that fuse has been pulled also. Good luck. Hope it is as simple as some accessible, easily repairable wires!

My 2001 cavalier ran out of gas, and now it wont start after putting gas in the tank. the engine cranks but wont start. could it be the pump?

You will need to check the fuel pressure. You will have a connection on the fuel line to the motor under the hood. No fuel pressure indicates one of three problems. Fuse in fuse box, relay in relay box under the hood or fuel pump located in fuel tank.
