Depends on car, but you can usually get it out without removing engine, though you might have to remove some braces or motor mounts and jack up the engine.

How do I change oil pan gasget

Jack up truck for safety sake put jack stands under frame . remove all engine oil remove all bolts holding oil pan on if their is not enough room to drop pan you may have to remove bolts holding motor mounts and jack up engine. if front end linkage is still in the way remove linkage. pull oil pan out. check gasket that was between block and oil pan if any stuck to block of engine remove with gasket scraper or wire brush or wire wheel on drill.make sure mating surface is clean put new gasket on new oil pan I like to use a high temp sealer on gasket both sides. Put pan with gasket back in place of old oil pan and tighten all bolts. jack engine down ,replace moter mount bolts replace any linkage you took apart. and dont forget to replace engine oil. make sure oil plug is in pan before pouring oil in . before starting engine check that no oil is leaking than start engine and check for any leaks again if all is good your done. if this was helpful please leave good feed back. A good temp fix on a rusted oil pan is JB weld make sure no oil is on pan clean with towel and rubbing alchol .you may have to drain oil first. if it is rusted badly you may have to use a wire brush on a drill to clean the area to patch. if patched properly it may last for years.

Do I need to pull the engine out of my 1989 Ford Crown Victoria LX (302 5.0L V8) to drop my oil pan just enough to replace my my oil pan gasket? I need to replace the gasket as it is leaking.. I...

Not absolutly positive for that car. However nothing i have ever worked on or talked to someone who worked on any car has to pull the motor to remove the oil pan. There should be enough room for it to come out. You will have to have extensions for you ratchet, and more than likely a swivel. If it is rear wheel drive you may have to drop the pan down to the cross brace then take the bolts out of the oil pick up tube through the gap in the oilpan. Two bolts, maybe one? But then it will fall into the pan and then will fit out. I hope this helps.
And yes you have to torque the bolts. First snug them up and then criss cross one front corner then the opposite back corner etc... Not sure what torque is, like 24ft lbs? Ask the autopart store you buy the gasket at and they will tell you.

I have an oil pan lead in my 2006 dts, how to fix?

I assume you mean an oil pan LEAK. If so either the pan has a hole in it or the gasket is leaking. Either way the pan will have to be removed to repair the hole of replace the gasket. If it is the gasket that is leaking try tightening the oil pan bolts to 10 ft/lbs of torque.

I just bout a 1995 nissan pickup, it needs an oil change and the oil pan is leaking. i would like to know if i need a certain type of oil filter, and how i can either fix or install a new oil pan into it....

if you have the 2.4 motor this is your oil filter Fram Extra Guard® - Oil Filter Part # PH3682 the oil pan comes out fairly easy,, you may have to remove some components to clear the sump pump that lays inside the pan, if you have a small enough hole, you can have it welded for pretty cheap, if you want to go that route, be sure whoever is doing the welding, drains the oil, and cleans the spot completely with brake cleaner or some other oil removing solvent, and let dry completely , if its just leaking around the gasket,, drop the pan and replace the gasket

Do i need to drop the oil pan to ghange the timing cover gasket on a 95 ford mustang v6?

You can pull the motor mounts bolts and jack the motor up alittle, that will give you enough clearance to drop your oil pan. If you try and replace the timing chain cover without dropping the oil pan, you will more than likely wind up with an oil leak.

You should be able to replace the timing cover without removing the oil pan. The gasket set should contain gaskets allowing you to cut the oil pan gasket and put in a new partial gasket in this area. In the corners make sure you use some RTV sealant. If you are careful, it can be done. Like Bob A says you can end up with a oil leak without dropping the pan (unless you clean up the area and properly apply the RTV and gasket). If you have time to drop the oil pan, then I would do that.

How to remove oil pan from 1994 olds acheiva

raise car, remove any obstruction from out of the way of the oil pan. if you arent pulling the motor it will mean you need to drop the front k member. after that remove all bolts from pan, pry it off with a putty knife, remove old gasket with razor knife, reapply gasket, possibly adding RTV silicone if your car needs it. reverse all other steps and you are clear. unless you know for sure its just the oil pan leaking i would suggest changing front and rear main seals on the crank as well.

Need to replace the oil pump on a 95 park avenue

You shouldn't have to for head gaskets, makes it easier but not necessary.
For oil pan, you may have too. Depending on how much room there is between pan and crossmember and if pan is in tranny. Some cars the oil pan is 1/4" behind tranny but don't think that is the deal on your car.

How to diagnose an oil pan leak

If you have an automatic trans there should be a metal plate just after the rear seal of the motor. If you can remove the shield and see rust, good. If it has red oil, bad, its the trans. You will be able to see if the rear main of the engine is leaking by the oil on the torque converter and flywheel. You may just need to gently tighten the pan bolts which may loosen by themselves.
