The passenger floor carpet of my 2000 passport is wet but I don't know where the leak could be. nothing else in the cabin is wet, particularly the areas directly above the floor carpet

You did not indicate what sort of climate you live in or exactly where the carpet in the cabin was most wet...

However, the most common source of water inside a car is a clogged HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) drain tube. This tube provides drainage for water condensing on the AC evaporator and any water that enters the HVAC system during rain storms. If the tube is clogged with dirt and debris the water drips from underneath the dash where the heat vents are ... onto the floor instead of dripping onto the road. So usually the wettest place on the carpet is the front passenger foot well.

The drain tube is generally located on the firewall, low on the passenger side. You would probably have to raise the car to see/reach it. I am not sure exactly where the Passport one is ... they can be hard to find at times.

Other possible sources of water are a clogged sunroof drain tube, leaking window seals, torn or missing door seals, and clogged door drain holes.

Also ... buildup of debris (pine needles/leaves) where the windshield wipers retract in to can also block those drains which can sometimes cause overflow into the passenger compartment.

After you find and eliminate the source of the water you will have to lift the carpet and remove the padding underneath in order to dry it. The padding holds water like a sponge and will not dry unless it is removed from the vehicle. Shop vacs won't get the water out of the padding. Even if the carpet feels dry the padding underneath may still be wet, and that is where mold and mildew grows.

Helpful?

Good luck on your troubleshooting

Carpeting wet from underneath

The slots in the cowl at the base of the windshield collect water and direct it down through channels in the front door pillars to drain under the van. The channels can become clogged with leaves and debris, causing water to back up inside and drain onto the carpet. The cure is to open the front doors and examine the "pocket" behind the lower hinge. You will see the debris. A repurposed metal coat hanger or similar tool will help clear the blocked channel.

Where is the water leak in my AC thats flooding the front carpet of my Chevrolet Venture. I have only been driving the car when the weather is dry. Even when I do not wash the car the inside of the carpet...

The a/c drains the condensation water out thru the floor by a small hose or tube.
If you look under the van near the passenger side floor at the firewall you should see a small tube and it may be stopped up.
You may have to put the van on a lift to find the tube.

The front passenger (right side) carpet is soaking wet. No other part of the carpet is wet, just this area. Can you advise if it is an AC condensation leak? The water is fresh, not radiator fuid or...

Could be several things:-

1) Pollen filter blocked, needs changing.

2) Sunroof drain blocked, my car is different but the sun roof drains down a tube which eventually goes down the rear of the front wing. There's one both sides. To clear, take the wheel off, take the inner wing shroud out and clean all the mud that has built up underneath it, Then make sure the tube is clean.

3) Faulty door seal, check your door frame seals.

Cant stop a 201venture van from over heating the heater works the van dont run hot but wen the heater dont heat the motor runs hot

When your not feeling heat coming from the heater it usually means that the coolant level is too low in the radiator. It sounds like you have a coolant leak somewhere which is causing your overheating problem. Fill your radiator and let the engine run for about a half hour with the radiator cap on tight. Then turn off the engine and check for any leaks under the van. If you don't see any leaks under the van then see if the carpeting is wet on the passenger side of the vehicle. If the carpet is wet and it smells like anti-freeze you have a heater core that is leaking. I hope this helps you. :)

AC unit causes carpet to get wet

Yes the A/C condensate drain is probably cloged up. I have not worked on a Montana but if you look at another GM mini van with the A/C on and the condensation driping out the bottom you can see where the drip comes from.
I hope this helps you.

Wet carpet in 2001 lincoln town car

Look underneath the outside of the car, directly under the rear passenger floor board should be a fairly large rubber plug. Make sure that is still securely in place and not damaged.  If the plug appears to be ok, your next area of suspicion would be the weatherstriping around the door. Check for any damage to the black rubber weatherstriping. And last option, Heater Core could be leaking and in need of replacement. Good Luck!

Interior Carpet Getting Wet

It sounds like a plugged drain line from the air conditioner. Most cars now run in the a/c mode whenever u turn on the climate control (even when heat is on). The passenger side front is where it would be wet, and the carpet and carpet pad act like a sponge and will soak up the water. Let me know how u make out.
