That is the security light. It flashes at a steady pace to show that everything is ok. And to keep theives from messing with it because it has an alarm. It is normal. Im not sure if you can turn it off or not. Here is a link where you can download a manual for the car and it tells about it. I hope this helps.

I just had a problem with mine. If it flashes every 2 seconds then it is ok and armed. But when you try to start it, It should stay on for 3 seconds then go off. Mine started flashing while I was starting it. That means security locked, I guess. Only thing I found was take it to the dealer. So I got a can of electronic contact cleaner and disconnected the battery. Then sprayed it into the ignition. And on the Key,. Slide it in and out so it cleaned all the pins and the tiny switches so they would work agian. I think it was dirt off of the key making the switch stick and not come on or not shut off before I removed the kiey.

Im sure I will have to get it replaced soon.

Lincoln Continental Brake problems Brake on drivers side front lock up traction control light on ABS light on this has been a problem since we got car

Not a problem if you have the ABS System properly
diagnosed

I know what your saying, but common sense says there
are people capable of resolving the issue, you just have
to find that skilled person & one who likes fords

If what you saying is correct & the left front was dragging,
you could not use the car as the hubs would over heat &
you would have resolved the problem long ago.

Where is thermostat on 1997 lincoln contenental

Hello acweldy.
The thermostat is on the left(drivers) side of the engine near the front on the lower rad hose.
This diagram is a little small, sorry, but they don't allow us much space here.
The housing for the thermostat points down.
If you need further help in locating it, please ask me here in a comment.
Thank you for using FixYa.

You don't.
There are clips that hold the assembly in. Take off plastic cover that goes from side to side. Then you will see them, they pull straight out.
Both sides come out as an assembly.
