Question about 1999 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a '99 Honda Accord LX and I noticed last night that my brakes lights stayed illuminated when the vehicle was turned off. I checked all the doors and if the lights were on. I ended up taking the bulbs out so I wouldn't have a dead battery in the morning. I went to Autozone and they gave me some rubber bumpers to put in behind the brake or the arm of the brake. I see no such area for these rubber bumpers. I want to know if this is in fact my problem and where would I put these bumpers.

The bumpers you were given go behind the BRAKE PEDAL...to keep it off the switch.

1999 HONDA ACCORD LX IS TURNNING OFF WHILE I DRIVE

when this stall happens notice if the speedometer drops to "0" while the vehicle is in motion, if some warning lights aren't lit (chk engine, ABS, brake etc.) when key is set to "On"!! If these issues happen when the vehicle "shuts off while driving" it may be caused by "ignition switch failure". Your vehicle may be part of a 2002 Honda/Acura recall. Symtoms include: intermitted power loss, intermitted engine shut off, some warning lights not lit, random hard starts. This happens more often in warmer/hot weather. Call your local dealer and provide them with your VIN# to check if your vehicle is still covered, they may fix it for free. Otherwise the part is about $48-$100!!

1991 honda accord brake light indicator stays on dash

Brake light switch? Its mounted near the top of the brake pedal lever. The lever contacts and holds the switch closed which keeps the lights from turning on when at rest. When you step on the brake, the contact is broken, the switch extends and completes the circuit allowing the brake lights to illuminate.

1991 Honda Accord Brake Lights Stay on

Hi,
Usually there is a spring loaded switch that is activated by the brake pedal arm (under the dash). It registers on the pedal arm and when the pedal is depressed the switch is activated, causing your brake lights to illuminate.
The switch may have been bumped out of position. Hopefully this is a quick and easy fix for you...
Good luck!

Car brake lights won t turn off when car is shut down 1996 Honda Odyssey

It should be your brake light switch. There is a little plate welded to the arm of the pedal that has a hole with a rubber stopper. The rubber stopper is most likely missing, or damaged. You should be able to take a flashlight and see the plate and the switch. If the hole is plugged up, you will need the brake light switch, if not, replace the plug.
