Bypassing the compressor is best to do. get a belt for your engine less the ac option. the removal and tear down of any compressor is not easy for a novice

Yes. This system shouldn't be to hard to replace the clutch. They run anywhere from about $50-$100. Remove the nut in the centre of the clutch assembly and gently pry the pulley back and forth and it should slip right off. Be sure that it is the clutch bearing and not the compressor itself. If you remove the belt and turn the puleey by hand you will know. If it turns hard, replace the clutch assembly. if not, replace the compressor. Let me know what else you may need.

We do not replace the clutch. We replace the entire compressor, with an used one, because is more economical and less time consuming.
You can buy a used one for around $100 at:

You need an ac clutch remover tool about 80.00 on ebay some cars yes you can by pass the ac compressor with a shorter belt and some cars you cant you will need to see a belt diagram for both there might be an idler pulley you need for a non ac car and on some you might need to remove the compressor my advice is just buy a rebuilt compressor it comes with a new clutch and all you have to do is charge the ac or you could get a junk yard compressor and just replace it if you dont care about it working ( you get a 50-50 shot at it working ) but at least the belt will fit without any modifications hope this helps

Serpintine belt

if the ac is not working then if you leave it switched off there will be no need to get a special belt to by-pass it. The pulley on the ac compressor is just an idler pulley that only turns the compressor when there is current to the clutch in the pulley. IF you never use the ac the pulley just spins . The problem with special belts is if they fail (and they do ) it will be where/ when you cannot get a special belt but you will always get a proper belt from any spares store or garage.

AC Compressor squeals when ac is running. Do i have to replace entire compressor or can you just change the bearing?

most likely the squeal is actually the compressor clutch u may be able to get an aftermarket clutch but it requires special tools to remove and install and u would still have to remove the compressor for the little bit of price difference i would replace the compressor and the belt

I wanna know how to replace a water pump on my 1998 BMW 528i

You need to drain radiator, pull fan shroud, pull fan/fan clutch, reeve belts and pulley then unbolt waterpump. You do beed special tools for fan clutch and pulley removal. BavAuto.com or Pelican parts .com have parts, tools and good info on how to do the job successfully.

You might be ablr to find a relplacement part but if you go to the dealer for it I doubt they will sell it to you. And yes, special tools are required!

BAD BEARINGS ON AC CLUTCH ON A 2000 DODGE DURANGO

Buy a whole new clutch for about $200. You need a special puller to remove the old one if you intend to refurbish it. It's not worth the effort. Just remove the clips and knock the old one off with a hammer. Chuck it away and replace with a brand new clutch assembly.

public library...Chilton or Haynes auto repair manuals or collisionrepairadvice.com

you need access above and below the car. a good set of tools and patience.  It's almost a full days work

While your in there, check the water pump and the belt tensioner and you may want to replace the other drive belts.  Good luck.

I need to replace the waterpump assembly

I just replaced the water pump on my 2003 Envoy XL with the 5.3L V8. Spent ALL day doing it! Would have been MUCH easier if I had the special tool that holds the water pump pulley still while you turn the nut for the fan clutch. There are 4 holes in the pulley that have to be pinned (at least 2) with a special wrench. I managed to make something myself using a piece of scrap metal and a couple of 5/16" bolts, but it was a royal pain. Tried three different auto parts stores for tool rental, but they only had tools for pulleys with bolt heads sticking out, not holes in the pulley. Autozone.com has online repair information that was VERY helpful. I didn't have to buy the manual because they had all the info on their site. I also used the trailvoy.com forum to get some tips from others that had done it.

Go with a Centerforce 1 clutch kit. Check their website centerforce.com. It's worth every penny!

It's a chunk of change but so is having to replace the clutch every 40,000 miles or less.

Harmonic balancer for 1999 dodge ram 1500

well if i remember correctly that fan clutch is reverse threads so in other words to loosen it you'll have to turn your wrench clockwise. they do this cuz the rotation of the fan will tighten itself onto the water pump. anyway what i do is leave the serpentine belt on the the pulleys and that will kinda hold them steady whilst you put the "special" wrench on the clutch and pop it loose you'll prolly need a cheater bar to make things easier but not too much or you'll overcome the traction of the belt and it will just slip.
