NO, this is very common on these fords, i'm sorry to say but the transmission needs rebuilding, this runs about $1500 to $1800.00. make sure to go to a dependable trany shop that give you the best warranty like 3yrs 36000 miles. there are a lot of shops out there that do this job cheap and the work is also cheap, ive seen them last 1 year and the warranty was over or they last 2 or 3 years, do some homework before getting this done, in the last mounth we have had three customer same problem going along or taking off from a light car just wont move or slowed down to a stop. hope this is helpful,

SOURCE: someone took the fuses from my car. I can not

The best solution here is for you to go to the Auto Zone or other auto parts store and purchase a Chiltons repair manual on your vehicle. In that will be a diagram showing the fuses and teh locations of each. This is assuming that you don't have the owners manual on the vehicle., the diagram is in there as well. Both Diagrams will show fuse location and what type of fuse to use.

Shifter is in neutral. Why is manual transmission stuck in 3rd gear?

Internal transmission breakage has stuck the thing in 3rd gear. Stalls when putting in other gears because transmission is then being put into 2 gears at once. Better look into getting another transmission of having the current unit overhauled and repaired.

How do I fix the transmission problem? The car is moving forward at neutral, drive and low gear, and switching to parking mode at reverse and parking. The car is not backing up at all.

Transmission may now be toast since you continued to drive it when maybe low on fluid or torque converter had failed. How long since last fluid and filter change? Ever?

Why won't it move?

Jack up the Vehicle and put stands under it. Disconnect the Battery for Safety, turn your key to the On Position and have someone move the Gear Shift while you watch the shift lever on the side on the Transmission that is connected to the Shift Cable. If working properly it you should see the lever move to each gear position. If it does not move you have a problem at the Gear Shift end, if it does move your problem is the Transmission itself and is internal. Also check your Transmission Fluid, if low fill to the recommended level. Also smell the fluid on the dipstick, if it has a burnt smell you have internal problems and will need to have it rebuilt.

When i start my car and go to put it in gear it wont move.

When you say rocky spot, what do you mean? If you mean there were rocks in the roadway, you could have put a small hole in the transmission pan which leaked all the fluid out of it. First thing I would do is check the fluid level on the transmission dipstick and look for leaks on the ground under the car.

I would think it is time to see a transmission shop and have them diagnose your problem. This beyond my scope of knowledge, sorry.

Transmission

First check the transmission fluid level. Next look for a wiring harness to the transmission not fully connected. Next see if there are fuses for the trans, check them. After this you start running into expensive repairs, good luck.

Car will go in gear but will not move when clutch is released, any ideas will be helpful.thanks

Either the clutch has failed, or something inside the transmission has broken.
Can you shift gears with the engine running and not depressing the clutch ? Can you put the transmission in first gear and move the car by hand ?

Sounds like you have a transmission internal problem> I would sugest that you take it to a transmission tech for the diagnosis.
