SOURCE: I'm helping a buddy with his car. I was wondering

If you want to tune the timing for performance, use a degree timing light. Find the straight mark on the harmonic balancer. On the timing cove is a tab or it may have a aftermarket timing mark bolted to the timing cover. With the vacume advance unpluged from the distributor and the vacume line plugged (to prevent a lean condition).

Use the trottle and rev engine to 1500 rpms. Set the timing light to 32 degrees and adjust distributor until the marks on the harmonic balancer and the zere mark on the tab align. Tighten distrubutor clamp and recheck one more time.

What type of ignition coil should I buy ?? resister type or normal it is a1979 1600cc

1979 1600cc what? Early chevy cars (1963 for example) had a resistor wire between the coil and the ignition switch that took the place of a resistor coil. The theory here is that when cranking to start, you want the full 12 volts that by ohms law means you have lower amps, but higher voltage to jump the cold spark plug gap and make for easier starting. Once running, you have a resistor that reduces voltage but increases amps, to get a fuller burn and better efficiency. THEREFORE, you can test for voltage being supplied to the coil at "key on" to see which coil you need. If you have full 12 volts, buy resistor coil. If more like 6.8 or so, use non resistor coil.

How do you check drivers side heated seat coil on 03 chevy impala to see if its bad?

the easy way is to check it with a multi-meter check it for a power shart to groung or the most common is open curcuit, the heater element is burnt and the coil has an open and that will not complete the circuit. a continuty test would show that, good luck.

2003 Chevy Impala 3.8L #3 and #6 not firing, we replaced the coil still not firing. Husband doesn't think 2 plugs would go bad at the same time any suggestions?

may be a bad module it is under the coils I think 3 and 6 are on the same coil so that would make both cyls not fire

Ignition control module on a 2001 Chevy Impala

There is a switch relay that plugs behine the ignition switch cylinder. You would have to take apart the dash console to take it apart to replace it.Also helps solve a few problem on the 2001 chevrolet impala, with heat gauage not working and a/c not blowing cold air anymore.Replacing it, should fix the problem with that.

2002 chevy impala car wont start coil not firing

You can take the distributer out and spin it yourself. You can also take the distributer, coil, etc., in to a place like Autozone to have it checked. But make sure there is power coming from the ignition switch and getting to the coil first.
