Question about Lincoln Continental

1 Answer

I need wiring diagram for my 1994 Continental. The AC doesn't work because of a faulty F1D1F-12B577-AA module which Ford no longer makes. I suspect that the AC function of this is to disable the AC when the car overheats. I would like to try shorting the AC leads to this multipurpose module so I can just turn off the AC manually if the car overheats.

Hi! I strongly suggest that you visit the local bookstore or auto parts store and get a copy of HAYNES or CHILLTONS repair manual. They got the diagrams on mechanical and electrical. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

How to Eliminate annoying Intermittent Warning Chimes from a 1994 Continental Instrument Cluster?

This is the simplest & easiest fix, to make your '94 Cont. drivable, without having to listen to incessant CHIMES beeping every five minutes, due to faulty sensors and electrical glitches from the junk message system. Go under the dash, on the right side of the steering column and remove the plug (10 wires) from the 'warning chime module.' There is a tan/yellow wire in that plug on pin #7--that is the "tone generator" wire. CUT IT.!!! Now, when all of those faulty inputs try to get to the warning chime module--they CAN'T! Problem solved--no more beeping. This does not disrupt the chime from sounding if you open the door with your keys in the ignition, or with the lights still on--it continues to protects you from THAT. Remember to watch your OWN coolant & oil levels--to make sure no REAL problems exist--and you're good to go!

Defrost keeps popping fuse 11 in fuse box making a/c clutch not to work and 4x4 silenoid

I would suspect a faulty A/C clutch. However, after looking at a wiring diagram, the only thing the A/C system and 4WD system have in common is the powertrain control module. Take a very close look at the wiring harness between the fuse block under the hood and powertrain control module for corrosion or damage.

The Constant Control Relay Module is located right underneath the air cleaner box. Please be sure to replace it with the correct module, they are not the same. Use all the numbers on the old one, like F8CZ-12B577-AA, AB, AC, there are others.
