If you know which wires they are, ask an electrician to "but-splice" the wires back together.
Or if you think yourself wise enough to handle the situation, go buy, wire-strippers, **** splices and a crimper for those wire splices.
MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT SPLICES FOR THE GAUGE WIRE.
Strip the ends of either wire(you only need to strip about a1/4 inch), twist them CLOCKWISE, place them in the **** splice, and crimp the ends, and PRESTO! wire has continuity.
Make sure you splice the right wires together, or you will have blown fuses, and things not operating correctly.

I know it's late, but you have a bad microswitch in the handle. I had the same problem with my 2005 focus. It needs to be replaced, that's it.
