Question about 2004 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

I have a 2004 VW Jetta. The radio ejected the tape in the radio the ABS light came on and the airbag light. After several minutes the car would no longer accelerate. I pulled over and it died. If the car sits for 10 minutes or so the car will start again and repeat the process. The car seems to turn off unessential components to preserve power. The tape will eject if that is running in the stereo if it is the cd player it ejects the cd and shuts off the radio. Then the ABS light and airbag light comes on. The battery light will be on once the car will restart. I did not jump start the car either. It'll restart after 10 or so minutes and then repeat the whole process all over again.

Open the hood. Lift the battery cover, then there is a little black box on top of the battery. Open it. bet it is burnt and melted. Do NOT take it to the dealership. You'll pay $600 . You need an alternator cable and a new fuse block. 30min fix.

2004 Jetta 1.8t won't start after accident.

Sorry no inertia switch. When VW crashes, airbags go and safety belts strain gauges go. It comes as a Kit from VW. After replacement, crash error need to be erase from memory with diagnostic tester. See how to it at http://volkswagen-polo-highline.blogspot.com

ABS light comes on, traction light, and airbag light. The radio turns off, and everything dims. Then the car dies & won't restart. Its not Alt or Batt.

There should be a fuse between your battery and alt. If the fuse is blown, the current isnt getting back to the batt.

Something like this also happened to my brother in his Jetta, Im not saying its the same thing but his timing belt gave out.

1999 VW Jetta- all dash lights (ABS, Brake, Airbag, Check Engine) went on and then the car died. It restarted when I had a jump but only made it 1 mile before dying again. Is it the alternator?

Sure is, the regulator in the alternator went out. You can test this by starting the car and disconnecting the battery while the engine is running. If the car dies, you have a bad alternator.

2003 VW Jetta air bag light and ABS light stays on

no it wont. in order for the air bag light to go off you must get a VW air bag resetter. they sell for about 45 bucks. it will reset the light and crash data. since your airbag light is on the airbags are locked up. once reset they will work again. anymore questions give me an email... andrewlangner@yahoo.com

2001 VW Jetta air bag on and honk won't work.

It's your clockspring. It's inside your steering wheel, underneath the airbag. Controls the electrical connection to your airbag and horn.

Hope this helps!

2004 Volkswagon Jetta airbag deployment indicator will not go out

I had a similar problem on my 2003 VW Jetta. The airbag light lit and would not go off. If it's the same problem, you have to take it in for servicing and the tech has to turn it off.

I think it's a way for them to get you to come in for a "recommended" service if you ask me. They said it was dangerous, but it is your airbag...
