Question about 2001 Isuzu Rodeo
When you press the brake pedal does the brake lights come On.If not then the brake light switch has to be replaced.
Ok, try turning the vehicle off. Then turn the key one click and try to move the shifter out of park into neutral while holding the brake. Then if you get it into neutral, start the Isuzu and drive it .But if this is not helping then It sounds like a problem in the shift lock solenoid or wiring. Are you able to press the button in all the way?If not, try pushing down on the handle of the shifter while pressing the button. Is the handle loose at all?If the shift handle is loose it could be what is causing your problem. It could also be the cable running from the steering column down to the shifter. You can keep pressing on the brake pedal while you feel for the cable. Also try holding down on the brakes, wiggling the cable with one hand and pushing the button in with your other hand. Be sure you are pushing down on the handle to make sure it is fully seated while trying to push the button. It has been seen on several vehicles where the handle is up slightly and this caused the shift lock not to disengage.
