A screw driver and lots of patience.

I had that happen before and it's a pain. I now always lube with WD40 even if working good on my cars.

You just have to move the part pulls the hook with limited room. A coat hanger can also work. It's like popping a lock if you never did it and no idea how the lock assembly is setup.

2005 chevy tahoe open hood when hood release broken

Take a pair of pliers, and pull the cable where handle hooked to it. Helps to have some one push down on hood while you pull cable.

My hood release lever can I open my hood??

You should be able to still grab the cable with some pliers and pull on it. If you can't see the cable, you can pull off the kick panel to access it.

Good Luck!

2002 Chevrolet Blazer hood latch will not release. How do I get the hood to open?

If the cable isn't broken, have someone push down on the hood when the release is pulled, it should release. If it does, you should apply some lube to the latch mechinism to keep it freely working. If the cable is broken, you reach in behind the grille with a small hooked tool and find the cable going to the latch, hook the cable and pull it out 'this will take quite a bit of force' so you can grab it, you then remove the plastic housing and grab the steel cable with a pliers or other tool and from the latch side- pull hard to release the latch. you should then will have to replace the cable later. Also lube the latch.

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

I can,t get my hood open the cable is can i open my hood.

It actually is going to depend upon where the break in the cable is. I'm basing this on the model year but you might check to see if any of the cable is still extended & broken where it connects to the lever that you use to open it. If you can see the broken strands/cable you can easily clamp onto that with vice-grips, or similar pliers & pull on the exposed cable to open it.

IF you cannot see the cable, you are limited as the whole intent of the cable system was to prevent anyone from opening the hood without the release cable. You can attempt to determine where it broke based upon the cable you pull out of it (the part still connected to the release handle), cut the cable past that point without cutting the inner, "pull" cable, then pull on the exposed cable once out. Get your replacement cable at the dealer or local salvage yard.

Check under the hood latch opening area to see if the small cable could be snagged & pulled but that's a slim chance.

Finally, Body shops are the best at getting to things like this since they usually have to dissasemble those parts for repairs, they would be well suited to remove other parts to gain access. good luck

2000 Chevy Blazer with Broken Hood Release. How do I open the hood

can you reach the cable itself?,or is it broke at the hood latch?IF its not broken at the outside latch, try to follow the cable,un-hook it from the handle and pull on the wire cable to open it.IF its broken at the latch itself, you are going to have to reach the latch through the grille and try to pull the lever the cable connects to.That part is no fun at all..!!

Broken hood

look under the car or behind the grill there should be a black cable running to the under side of hood.if you ''skin'' the black plastic back you will find a metal take two pairs of to hold the black casing and one to pull the wire.that should open hood.once hood is open you'll see where cable attaches to hood latch.that cable needs replacing.
