Check fuel pressure at the injector rail. Could be your fuel pump relay is cutting out. If fuel pressure is good, check for sparks at the plug wires. Read the link below for more info.

I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee with a 4.0 It runs fine but then dies at random and wont start again until it sits for a while. Like i say it dies totally at random. Im thinking a sensor, anyone have

First I suggest scanned the fault codes stored there; turn the ignition key (without start engine) "on/off on/off on" and read odometer codes Pxxxx. Note this codes and send us for other details.

Keep in touch.

I have a 99 grand cherokee iwas driving about 10

check your fuel filter it could be restricted that won't show up on test. A faulty fuel pump wont show up either...next time it stalls check to see if you can hear the pump running when you turn the key on. (filter may be part of the regulator on top of the pump unit on top but outside the tank)

I have a 2000 grand prix GTP and it randomly dies on me. and the thing will say how many miles i can go on the tank of gas i have and it'll drop from like 96 to 66 just like that so is the fuel pump...

when it dies do you get a check engine light? if not your feul pump assy can cause this. the wires from the sending unit which tell the car how much gas you have could be bad. replace the whole assy and both problems could be fixed.

the crankshaft position sensor controls spark and if faulty would give the symptons you have described you need to get this checked first

Car dies at random moments

But, you did not change the crank sensor (on the drivers side of the bellhousing, just where it's a real pain to get to)

'93 Grand Cherokee intermittently starts and runs

Hi, I had simmilar problem with my 1993 JGC . I ran out of gas and it would not start until the next day. Then it will start and run until I put the brakes on tho stop and then it will die. It starts right back up. Ended up being the voltage regulator in the ECC/ECM. It is at the mechanics shop right now waiting for the ECC to come in.I will post a follow up.
