Question about 1996 Chevrolet Astro
This is usually a failure in the bulbs themselves, check your fuses and pull each bulb and check both the bulb and socket for damage.
Is this just the parking lights, or the brake lights as well?

Fuse or short. If both went out then a short. Check brake pedal assembly wiring from there back to lights. If lights stayed on then it's the button assembly (physical) that's apart of the pedal assembly but that's not the case if off altogether. I had MANY shorts with the Astros I've owned although I do love Astros.
