Hi, If your system if low on freon the compressor will not engage due to the low pressure. You will need to get at least a small charge into the system to determine if there are other problems and to find the leak. The condenser have a high failure rate on these cars so that is where i would start to look for a leak. If there is anything else i can help you with just ask. Thank you.

My ac clutch is not engaging..new compressor, dyer and hoses, new relay fuse in engine compartment...if freon is low will that make clutch not engage?

yes there is low pressure cycling switch on low side
bypass those wire and if the clutch engage then your low in freon or switch defect

1991 Mercedes Benz AC Cycling Switch /Compressor Clutch Won't Engage Completly Spins 1/6 of a complete spin repetedly then stops

You need to have the refrigerant charge level checked, it sounds like it is low. You Need a set of AC pressure gauges to do this testing. If the system has a low charge the pressures will be very low in the low side testing port.

Ac compressor clutch will not engage on my 98 yukon.

The most common cause of no clutch engagement is a low state of refrigerant charge in the system. Have a set of AC pressure gauges hooked up and bypass the compressor cycling switch and check the pressure on the low side charging port, you show shop 28-32 PSI at idle.

I have a 2001 Ford Mustang V6, the ac is blowing warm air. We checked the refrigerant and it is full. The ac compressor will kick on for a few seconds and then kick off. Why is the compressor not staying...

it's either low (in spite of your readings) or your a/c clutch is not working correctly or you have too big an air gap in the clutch.
First, just disconnect the 2 pin connector from the a/c pressure cycling swithc and jumper the 2 pins with a wire to force the clutch to stay engaged. See if it blows cold then, and stays engaged. You can run this way for about 15 minutes before you have to pull the plug.
report reulsts.

A/c compressor clutch wont disengage when switch turned on but does when relay is jumped, tried changing relay but problem remains

Do you mean the clutch wont engage when switched on? If that is the case then maybe the system is low on refrigerant.
There should be a two wire low pressure cycling switch on the dryer/accumulator. Turn the a/c on and jumper that switch. If it works then you may be low on refrigerant or that switch is bad. Unless it was removed, there is supposed to be a shrader valve behind that cycling switch so it can be removed and replaced without loss of refrigerant (unless the shrader is leaking).

If it still does not work then it may be the controls. I can't get more specific as you did not give any info on the specific vehicle.

Seems to have no power going to a.c. compressor

Compressor uses a clutch that is activated electrically by a relay. When you turn on the A/C, you should hear the clutch engage and pull power from the engine. If the clutch is not engaging, there may be several reasons:
wiring problem
HVAC switch failure
relay failure
compressor clutch failure
low refrigerant level

There is a sensor that checks the system return pressure and will not allow the clutch to engage if the refrigerant level is too low.

My 2002 Expedition air conditioner will sometimes blow hot air and others cold air

I would check the following possibilities:
1. Is compressor clutch working? - You need to do this when the ac is blowing hot air only - locate compressor drive pulley on engine - rubber belt wraps around it. Start engine and set to max ac. When the ac is blowing hot air, look at the center of the compressor drive pulley using a good flash light - watch it for a while, it should be spinning with the pulley - this means the compressor is engaged. If not, the compressor is not engaged. If your ac is blowing hot air, then the compressor should be engaged and running (trying to cool). If it is not engaged, then your compressor clutch is probably going out. Could be low voltage to clutch, but more likely the clutch is worn out and only working some of the time. Note: if working normally, the compressor clutch will engage and disengage in cycles- but the air should always be cold. If clutch is bad, compressor would need to be replaced (sold as one unit). This is tricky to diagnose and could take some time - you need to do it when ac is blowing hot air but set to max cooling.

2. Low on refrigerant or refrigerant has moisture in it? If your ac blows cold initially after being off for a while, then heats up, and continues to regularly cycle back and forth between hot and cool air, then the system may be low on refrigerant or the refrigerant may have moisture in it that is freezing and restricting refrigerant flow. An a/c shop can check refrigerant level and even replace refrigerant if moisture is suspected.

Could be other issues, but I would start with these.

Good luck

My air conditioing compressor is cycling for about 4 seconds. is this a clutch problem or something else? compressor is almost new.

sounds like a low freon/refrigerant problem,is the lines near the evaporator core at the firewall frosting over as it cycles,if so this is a good indication of a lack of refrigerant

Ac clutch on envoy does't stay engaged

When the clutch kicks out prematurely, it's usually low in refrigerant. if the low side pressure gets too low, the low pressure cut out switch trips, turning off the compressor. Or it could be a bad cycling switch.

Run auxiliary power source to compressor and see if clutch coil engages, low preasure indicates low on refrigerant but should be enough to engage compressor.
