Could be low idle and needs raised but may be the IAC sensor. Take off air intake assembly and clean the throttle body real good. Let it air out and then put assembly back on and try.

    On throttle body, air intake. Near TPS which could effect idle as well

    took air intake off throttle body clean i unpluged the sensor rite on the air in at the throttle body ran the same with all off the code it is throwing for the engine light is missfire on cylinder one
    man i appriciate the intrest i need this car for a jib next week ...life is depending on it

    My 1st though if I understand correctly is if you unplugged the IAC and ran the same then that sensor is filthy or bad, my estimation, BUT if you are getting a code for misfire on cylinder one then check the ignition coil (gives power to plugs, can't miss) on top of the motor and also the plug wires and plugs. You might have a bad coil pack that heats up and shorts out. Or it's bad, or wire is bad, or plug is bad, or cylinder is bad but odds are electrical. There's a chance the injector is sticking or going bad also. Add quality injector cleaner to gas, swap cables from the coil. Then let it idle and check CEL trouble codes. If it tells you different cylinder then cable is bad. If same code replace plug. Still the same then either coil pack or cylinder. Coil packs do go pretty easy. They absorb a lot of heat.

    One thing I left out. Reset codes when swap cables because the ECM will continue to believe the same code until foxed. You can do by unplugging battery or with OBD2 scanner you might already have. It has to be between the cylinder (odds are not), the plug and wire, coil pack or injector. That's all related to bad cylinder trouble code. Just respond here and I get email for it and will do my best to help you.

Idle on start up is ruff oncei drive it is ok?


Anytime the check engine light is on, you should check the computer for trouble codes. The codes will point you in the direction of the problem and what to troubleshoot.

It will start and idle but it wont move forward without bogging out. it gets real ruff and wont climb a small hill


check and or replace fuel filter. if condition is still aparent,check fuel pressure at fuel rail port on intake manifold. may have a weak fuel pump if filter is ok.

You have an overrich fuel condition.
That will make the Cat over heat and in time will ruin it.
Check for codes
Check for misfires
Check O2 Sensors.
Fix the engine driveablitiy issues, and hope converter is okey. Not likely if you caught it so late ,it is red hot.
A ten year old converter being clogged,would seem to me, to have been helped along ,by lack of necessary maintainance on the engine

change the catalytic converter before it causes damage to your engine,by all means take it off and have a look at the blockage you can try to unblock it and test it out.hope this helps

Lite tapping in engine,very ruff idle,stops when idled up and runs smooth


ruff idle may b idle controll senc. ----tapping may be plugs-- wires, and or gas try 91 oct gas next 3 tanks and see thats the cheeepset place to start

Hi you should change the coolant temp sensor this is a white sensor on top of the intake and is part ot the computer system.
