Be careful, its easy to strip out the threads, do not use anti-seize on these engines. the plugs are on top on each side of the intake manifold under the coils, the rear ones are a bit tough to get to, be patient. you do want to grease the boots that slip over the plugs under the coils.

You first take off the gas cap to release some of the pressure and you also have to loosen the fuel rails as well give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair Manual for your truck wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

If you take the winshield wiper mechinism off Usually a 15mm for the arms and a 8mm + 10mm for the bolts going through the plastic shroud you can get at the back 3 plugs very easy. the whole wiper assembly will come out with the shroud you just have to unplug the wiper motor connector then you can get the plugs with a 5/8 plug socket and extention real easy.

Ford Escape goes dead

You started the right way.
It sounds like it needs a tune-up.
Change the sparkplugs - Use Autolite Platinum ($3.87 for two at WalMart; $6 each at AutoZone)

Also, check for faulty sparkplug cables as follows:
1. When it is getting dark outside, set the parking/emergency brake.
2. Open the hood.
3. Start the car and look under hood for "sparks" from the sparkplug cables to the engine (or other metal part).
4. DON'T TOUCH anything under the hood! The cables can shock you (bad!) or the fan can cut you or the Boogeyman may reach out ... (sorry)...
5. Turn off car .. that ends the cable spark test.
6. Replace ALL sparkplug cables if any create a light show under the hood.

Hope this helps!

How to change sparkplugs in my 2004 Ford Expedition

This vehicle's sparkplugs are located on the intake, right beside the fuel injectors. This is a time consuming job, and it is recommended to replace all COPs (Coil on plugs) very costly!! **WARNING**>> Work on the plugs with the engine cold, these engines are know for very little sparkplug threading and causing the plugs to eject while in operation. Be very carfeful installing as they are installed at an angle.

Can i change my sparkplugs myself?

You will need a spark plug wrench amongst other things, but it should be fairly cheap. It may be worth seeing how cheap it is at the auto shop, since it shouldn't take long. It may cost about the same as the instruments needed.

Here is a step by step guide if you want to do it yourself.
