Yes, you can do it. Make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable first, as you'll be working with big wires that will spark if shorted. lemme know if you have questions. Here are instructions from autozone.com:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the starter assembly from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the nut from the solenoid M-terminal.
  4. Remove the solenoid retaining screws and the magnetic switch.

To install:
  1. Install the magnetic switch and secure to the drive housing with the two screws.
  2. Re-install the nut onto solenoid M-terminal.
  3. Reinstall the starter assembly.
  4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

I have a 2001 kia sportage. There is oil leaking into where the spark plugs are and shorting them out. Where could the leak be coming from?

You have a broken seal that is seated around the tube where SPARK PLUGS go thru. Fixing it is easy for a novice mechanic, just remove the VALVE COVER and u will see the SEAL around the tube, clean the area around the tube so that it will be oil free, replace all 4 seals, and put in a new one w/ a light coat of silicone sealant, clean also the valve cover gasket put some sealant. Put back the cover and ur done! Hope that makes ur day! taaah!

Did you check the fuse? (most likely culprit) Sometimes during heavy snow the motor gets overloaded gets hot and blows the fuse.

I have a Kia sportage 2006 and the cruise control is not working it comes on but will not set. i also have found that my ESP light is coming on after 5 miles.

The ESP was a recall, the dealer will honor that if you havent had it done. The cruise I had the same problem replaced it and its starting to go bad again. I think soon we will find it to be a recurring problem in all sportages.
