Hello,

The crankshaft position sensor on a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera is located inside the engine compartment. On the Ciera's bottom of the engine block is the oil pan. The crankshaft sensor is on the side of the oil pan.

there should be a right angle sensor on the right hand side of the vanos unit [im picking it's a vanos] and you are standing in front of the car. get a 5mm maybe 6mm allen key and undo the single bolt holding it to the engine. it sholuld slide out easily. then follow the lead under the intake manifold & unplug, can be a bit of a pain to get to but is possible. then install new sensor in reverse order.

it should be on the back of the head opposite the drive pulleys and belts. it should have four bolts holding it on. It looks square in shape.

Due to the variability problems with engine running are often experienced well before any error codes are set by the ECU.</span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span><span> </span>2 pin socket (magnetic - sine wave output).<span> </span>One pin is 'ground' the other is 'signal'.<span> </span>A voltmeter set to 2 volts AC should measure a signal in the 0.2 to 2 volts range on the 'signal' pin.</span><br /> <p><span><span> </span>3 pin socket (Hall effect, magneto - square wave form output).<span> </span>One pin is 'reference' (5volts), one pin is 'ground' and the third pin is 'signal'.<span> </span>A DC voltage should be detectable in the 0.5 to 1.5 volt range from the 'signal' pin.</span><br /> <p><span>It is important that the voltage measurement take place at start up when the engine is cold and again, 20 minutes later, when the engine has fully warmed up to operating temperature. If my vct timming sensor is faulty will it stop my au xr6 from running


cam shaft and crank shaft position sensors both have to work. sometimes a cam shaft sensor fault can be traced to a broken timing belt.

Where is my camshaft position sensor located on a 2008 chevy aveo


It should be located between the cam shafts. If you remove the Beauty Cover (( that's what they call the cover across the top of the motor. )) And then the Valve Cover. The Cam Sensor will be sitting between the Cam Shafts. Closer to the Intake Cam Shaft.

PCM= Powertrain Control Module. It is the brains of the car, it reads the sensor in put from all sensors including the cam shaft position sensor

Engine light came on...reading states its my cam shaft sensor, but dealer states 1997 grand cherokees 6 cyl. dont have a cam shaft sensor...What can it be then? if reading staes its a cam shaft?


Your cam sensor is inside the distributor. Problem is they list it as a Stator, not a sensor. on newer models, the sensor replaces the entire distributor. To remove it, you need to take the distributor out of the engine and remove the center shaft etc.

They are two different items. The cam sensor reports the position of the cam shaft(s) which operate the valves. The crank shaft sensor reports the position of the crank shaft, ie the position of the pistons.

Crank shaft sensor? is this the same as cam shaft


no each one has its own job,
crank sensor is counting crank shaft rpms
cam sensor is counting cam shaft rpms
is there any lights coming on just as this is happening?
i think you should have the fuel pressure checked when it dies out,you need at least 50psi at fuel rail
