Question about 2005 Pontiac Bonneville
Verify that the Tilt Lever is properly installed. Pull it straight out and push it back in.
Verify that the shoe is not seized in the pivot pins,
Inspect the pivot pins for binding.
Inspect the shoe grooves for dirt, burrs or rust.
Inspect for weak broken or bent wheel tilt spring
Here is a blow up of the steering column assembly. This is the steering costeering wheel tilt is stuck in the highest - e145769.gifly.
Make sure the tilt spring is not broken and the pins that hold the tilt head are jammed. steering wheel tilt is stuck in the highest - f2ace49.gif to remove the Tilt Spring.
